Help WiFi vs. 3G???

LEAVING GPS ON DOES NOT USE BATTERY! IT IS ONLY RUNNING IF YOU ARE USING AN APP THAT IS USING IT AND YOU SEE THE LITTLE SATELLITE IN THE NOTIFICATION AREA!

Sorry for the shouting, I just get tired of repeating it.

Alright, well I have widgets that use GPS, such as the HTC weather widget that changes based on my GPS location. I like it as I travel a lot, but if I disable the GPS while at home, it will not constantly be searching for my location. At least that's my logic for shutting it off.

Yes, if you are using a widget like Weather or Locale that is constantly running in the background and polling your location, then keeping GPS on will drain battery faster. If you see the white satellite with the green signals, GPS is actively running.

I usually turn off GPS locating for many apps because I don't travel that much, and when I do I just add in that location ahead of time. Or, if there is an option, I use cell tower location instead of GPS location, as that is generally less battery intensive.

I don't do this now as I am breaking in my battery (and just got the Seido 1750 today so I will be breaking that in for the next few days), but when I travel, and plan on using programs like navigation, I generally have the phone plugged in to the car anyway... seeing as though I will at minimum have 3G and Bluetooth on, and will possibly be using navigation.
