WiFi vs. 4G

What is the difference exactly? Which drains the battery faster? My phone runs smoother and faster on a 4G connection. Also, I read that Metro's Easy WiFi whatever is crap. Whenever I use it it Has issues logging in then it often drops the connection once it does. Which is the best one to use? Is it in the play store?

For battery life WiFi is going to be better than 4g. As for performance it all depends on the speed of the WiFi compared to what speeds you get with 4g. I have a crappy DSL connection at home so my 4g is much better.

As for the Metro Easy Wifi, disable that piece of junk app as soon as possible. Android comes with a built-in Wifi manager which is so much better. As soon as you disable the Metro Easy Wifi the Android stock manager will take over and make your life much easier in dealing with WiFi.

ive found broadband wifi (like if u have cable internet + wireless router) is noticeably faster than 4g. its the difference between watching youtube on your phone in 360p or HD. maybe twice as fast

4g is pretty good im happy with it i just cant wait till they make something as fast as wifi thats widely available without hotspots

I hear that, and i have paid attention enough to notice a difference in speed with my wifi depending on the situation. I have the exact setup you describe above and it's particularly slow when I'm streaming video (which I often do), and not horrible when I'm not. Yet my 4G is still faster.

And now a question! I've disabled the Metro app and started up wifi. It connected immediately which is already a big improvement. But is there an icon for the stock app? How would I change networks otherwise? I looked but can't find anything lol, sitting here thinking it's gotta be me O_o

There are a couple of ways to access the WiFi network lists. The first and not the most convient way is to just disable and enable the WiFi using the drop-down shade thing*. (I'm not sure what it is called).

The second way is just go to system settings and then tap on Wi-Fi. It should bring up the list of networks.

I would download the speedtest app and test the speeds while on Wi-Fi and then on 4g. Then you can finally know which is faster for you.

*(I'm fairly new to android so I don't know all the proper names of certain items.)

Man, I hate being so green, but exactly what are the steps to disable an app (if you haven't rooted your phone)? I already tried a Search for the word "disable" in this forum, but no joy. If someone could just point me toward a link, I would be much obliged.

Edit: Is it App Settings => All => MetroPCS Easy WiFi => Force stop? Or Disable? Or something else?

2nd Edit: Duh. Disable = disable. I think I got it. :) :(

Thanks!
Carol
