Help wifi vs carrier data?

i'm currently a hero user. up to this point i haven't upgraded my home to wireless internet, because pretty much the only wireless device i have is my phone. in all my experience the wifi on the hero has been almost the exact same as sprint's internet, sometimes slightly faster, sometimes slightly slower. if the case for the evo is different, i might get a wireless router to go with it in my home, and who knows what flood gates that will open.

The Hero is a pretty slow phone, its been over a year since I replaced it with my EVO, but the 3G Sprint network is AWFUL SLOW. WiFi should absolutely be faster in all scenarios.

so by that wifi SHOULD be faster even on my hero, but i can't tell a reasonable difference. any ideas why?

What is your home internet speed? 3g is generally between 200kbps and 1800kbps. Home internet can go up to 100mbps, with most being around 5-10mbps. My internet provider doesnt have any service below 5mbps anymore, so I can almost guarantee you that your wifi will be faster.

The reason it dosent seem like it on the phone, like the above poster said, the hero is an OLD phone, and it was underpowered to begin with. It just cant handle the speeds.
