Root WiFi

Hi there, first time poster here. Let me begin by saying thank you to the community - wow! I got my Droid X a little over a week ago and have already had lots of fun rooting my phone and playing around with all that's available. The forums have been unbelievably informative (I bricked it for the first time the other night).

Anyway, I feel like I've hit a wall that I can't seem to overcome through research, so I'm going to ask the community for help.

I'm running Gummy Jar (but have also tried Liberty and rubiX Focused) and my WiFi is shutting off on its own. When I'm running stock, I can open the Battery Manager and change it to Performance Mode which disables this, but on all the ROM's I have tried so far the Battery Manager doesn't exist under Settings.

Under Liberty I was able to use the Fission ROM Manager to download and install what seemed like the stock Batter Manager, but this hasn't worked on the other ROM's I've used.

(One post I read stated that the Battery Manager is a terrible piece of software.)

Here's my situation: I live a few miles off the beaten path and don't get cell reception out here. I rely on Sipdroid and Google Voice for calls/texts when I'm at home, so it isn't practical to have my WiFi turning off (not to mention the impact to other notifications such as email).

If there is some simple solution to make sure my WiFi is always on, I have not figured how to do it or where that setting is. Let me know if this exists :)

If I need to run a different ROM to be able to access the Battery Manager again, I will do that, but would like to explore other options first.

If there is some app or a widget or who knows what out there that could also serve my purpose, that would be fine, too.

As it stands right now this is really limiting what ROM's I feel like I can use :(

Let me know if you need any more information or if I have not explained anything properly. I have been wrestling with this for several days and am apparently overlooking the answer if it is out there. Surely something as simple as making sure the WiFi is permanently on (at least when cell reception is unavailable) should not be so difficult?

Thanks!

PS I'd also like to know if it is possible to have a timer on the screenlock the way stock does, but this is not as important to me.

Haha - wow :) Thanks! I thought I had dug as deep as I could dig in those menus, and did not realize I could pull up Advanced settings from there.
