Wildfire Message Alerts

Here's hoping that someone outthere can help me.
I want to put my own tunes on both my alarm and also my alert messages.
How do I do it please.
Regards :)

/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/ui
Am I being thick.

Managing and creating directories (folders) on your phone SD card can be done in many ways. You could use a card reader or put the phone in drive mode and do it right on your PC. You could also do it directly on your phone, but something tells me that you don't have a file explorer like Ghost Commander or EStrongs. So I'm going to show you how to do it on your computer. If you use a card reader, go directly to step 2.

I suppose you're on Windows. For other platforms like Mac OS or worse, someone else will have to help you.

1. Connect your phone to your computer using USB and select Disc Drive mode on the phone.

2. Right-click Windows "Start" button, select "Explore".

3. You should see a new "removable disk", for example "E:" (note that it can take a few seconds for your phone to unmount the sd card for Android and to mount it for Windows).

4. Click the drive. Click the File menu, then New, then Folder, name it "media".

5. Now double click the new "media" folder to open it and when there, create a folder "audio". Go into "audio" (double click it) and create a folder named "alarms".

6. Finally drag and drop some songs there. You can use .WAV files too.

Use the same method to create the other folders under "audio".

Good luck!

Fantastic, I think I am there.
If I am unsure of anything else may I contact you?

vosg, I have looked everywhere for the answer you have provided so succinctly. Thank you for your no-nonsense, easy-to-follow instructions.

I had despaired of ever being able to use a decent message tone on this phone. The ones which come with the phone are really rubbish.

Thank you for preventing me tearing out my hair :p:p

Hi, just joining the discussion, I created the files as suggested. Than I created own notifications on my wildfire voice recorder.
Question: how to find the created files ( I can only see SD files on my WF filemanager) and transfer to media file. And how to connect the E mail notification to the incoming Email. (in setting, sound,I can only find a message notificationm what works for messages but not for Emails.
Please help....

The files you create with Voice Recorder are on your SD card in the My Documents\My recordings folder.

I've just posted about an issue I'm having with my Wildfire then came across this thread!

Thank you so much for finally enabling me to have my own message and alarm tones!:D

Thanks for any hints

It depends what you use for email. I use GMail, and it only allows me to select the standard ringtones. In fact the only thing that I could change is my alarms.

Edit: I found out you have to unmount / remount the SD card (or reboot the phone) before you see the new alarm tones.
