Will android come out with an iMessage app?

[pauly814]

Any idea if android will introduce a native android iMessage type app? One that would allow android to android text messages, that use data? Just like the iPhone iMessage app?

The open ecosystem of Android has lots of third party apps that do this, whatsapp, skype, viber, etc. Also, you have google talk.

Plus, google babble is rumored to be announced before or at google IO

I understand that there are third-party apps iPhone has third-party apps as well but I was wondering if there's anything native so that both sides don't need to download an extra app

There already is. It's called Google Talk and comes pre-installed on all Android phones. It supports text, audio, and video. It's also cross platform so anyone with an iPhone or BlackBerry can also use it.
