I did not purchase my first smart phone (Android) due to advertising, I bought it because it seemed the best value over Windows/Apple/Blackberry. Since then I have learned about smart phones and will continue to use Android or equivilent phones.

TBH Apple never stood a chance with me as they charge WAY too much. Apple products are like buying motorcycle parts, think of a reasonable price then tripple it and thats what you'll pay.

Motorcycle parts: ya just nee to know where to shop and avoid the costly vintage bikes. Even then, the price can be low. Really depends on the bike, I should think.

As for phone $$$ you are paying the same one way or another. Just with the installment plan.

You have never had to buy from the dealer because of NO alternatives. Faring plexiglass, tires and mounting (auto tire stores never did motorcycles), turn signals, ... etc.

Even cycle junk yards would charge 2* a reasonable price for used.

Nope, seldom will darken the doorway of a dealer becuae I have run into dealers that are clueless morons. Ever since HD stopped serving me older parts, they lost my dollars.

I'll give you that the same bolts dealers sell at unreasonable prices can be had from local bolt suppliers. Dealers are costly and many cannot fathom the old iron. Or that HD once used cast iron to make heads. It was news to one local HD dealer's service wonk. New stuff they know, but I hate the new stuff because it is not cool and fun.

I bought a 1945 WLA service guide from a specialty dealer for $30.00 or so. HD wanted about $100.00 for the same book. Their gaskets are way too costly and less costly gaskets can be had from dealers in specialty parts and pars for old bikes. Starklite for Indians comes to mind.

I avoid dealers because I know they love to charge you money. I also know there are less costly sources, so I patronize them. Lots of dealers for old bikes. Depends on the bike and the year. It is easier to find pars for a 1950 HD than a Scott Flying Squirrel or a Vincent Rapid.

Unless you need bolts and washers, then the local hardware store can help you out.

Apple will never loose I believe the company would still be the best no not the best the GREATEST COMPANY IT'S A LEGEND ALREADY there's a A LOT reason why apple released the first iPhone back in 2007 I have an android its a HTC evo v 4g from virgin but I love apple soo much because that company is very different from all the other company to be honest I hate people that just talk alot smack to apple come on guys just put it simple iPhone is the revolution and innovated phone out there basically Google got alot ideas from them not gonna lie they do copy a lot that's why Steve jobs wants to put them down I hope it will

Its not a case of bashing the iphone. Its more a case of, yes apple has a good idea, yes they DID innovate, and now they lost the plot. iphone 5? it just gets the bare minimum of an overhaul. From such an amazingfantabulousOMGZ huge Co. thats a pretty pathetic offering, and where exactly is the innovation in the iphone 5? Apple have just proven what people have been saying for months, they are playing catch up, and evan that they are doing poorly atm.

Want innovation, look at the Samsung Beam, or S3, (among others from other companies im sure) at least they are progressing.

Most Android users likely cannot tell either. And many dedicated iPhone users might not be able to tell. Not sure every Apple store employee would be able to tell. They seem to not know much these days.

I cant tell them apart at first glance, either. And I am super duper uber crazy smart. Not sure I can tell an iPhone 4 from the previous version. I can likely tell the iPhone 5 from the 4/4s if they are sitting side by side and my brother cant. but he has a family, a difficult job and an actual life, so he cares not one darn bit.

Line up fifty smartphones and most people cannot tell you who made what. I know I cannot and I am super duper uber crazy smart.

Perhaps the most important question is this: who cares what some users can ID or not ID?

No, even side by side and in your hands, lots of people will be confused and they will not be able to tell one from another. Fanboys are sheep by definition but Apple sells a fraction of their products to the sheep.

Yes! Side by side; and if they are both 4s, they would be confused. To me a 4s looks exactly like a 4s, so I would be confused.

BTW, you are Dan and it is Saturday depending on which state you live in. For me it is Saturday. Well, for 5 more minutes. If you are in Maine I think it is 2:00.

So I was at 711 buying a Pepsi and I get a text message. I pull out my phone and this teenage comes up to be and says "Is that a Android?" I say "Yes it is." He then pulls out his phone and says "This is a iPhone. It's way better then Android. Also looks better." I just tell me that's nice and proceed to leave and walk back home.

He begins to follow me the whole way home trying to persuade me to throw out my phone and upgrade. I even asked him to leave me alone I do not care. But he said he wouldn't leave till he convinced me that iPhone is better and I should get one.

So here are the points he tried to make while following me home. I said nothing and proceeded to just turn on my music and listen to that.

-Apple has the latest tech
-Apple has been around forever
-Apple has more apps and better games
-iPhone's always get updated
-In about a year there won't be any Android phones around because of the Apple suing and Apple law. (Yeah IDK what he meant by Apple law)

Oh and the weird thing is he said he had a Android phone. Said he had the Samsung 3 (I suppose he meant the Samsung Galaxy S3) And all it did was crash, reboot, and force close on him. And he asked me if that was happening to my S3. I just told him that mine is a EVO V 4G. He just said I know what a S3 looks like I'm not dumb. God I hate teenages! And I also hate fanboys...well apple fanboys. I know you would hate if I came up to you and tried to convince you to get a android. I mean can't we just live in a world where you can choose what phone you want without getting yelled at for it?

But yeah sorry for that rant just needed to get that out. Has anything like this happen to you?

Well I suppose earbuds are better than the kids who like to litsen to phones out loud, in MONO, & awful SQ.

I like to ask them why they're listening in mono. They say they're not. I then ask them if I'm speaking in mono, they say stereo. I say I didn't ask if they were hearing me speak in mono. Or if a tree falls & no-one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? They usually go away after that .

I've Got T Agree, I Did Not See A Single Advert For The S2 Until After I Had Bought It... I Knew I Didn't Like ThE Layout Of Ios So Did Not Go For The IPhone, After Getting The S2 I Became A Lot More Aware Of The Other Options, And I've Grown To Like The User Interface Of Android, From Playing About With Ios And Windows Phones I'm Not As Keen On Them!

Main Point Is, Advertising Didn't Have Any Effect On My Phone Choice, Personally, I Feel It Rarely Has Any Effect On Any Of My Choices, Except Maybe To Watch TV Programmes!

That kid is a clueless fool and his comments are to be forgotten. He cant tell you much about any phone, period. It is a shame when they follow you around. the more they push, the closer they come to bleeding.

Sadly, I had a similar experience. However it was with a ~50 year old coworker of mine.

He told me that his new iPhone 5 will have an A6, and that my phone has an A5 and therefore the iPhone 5 is better. I have a US Galaxy S3. So I said, no, my phone does not have an A5 because it's not an Apple device. He continued to try to argue to me what my phone has because he heard that the iPhone 5 has an A6 and that everything else must be inferior.

So I took the time to explain to him, briefly, that Apple has not yet released solid details about the A6 and that some tech blogs and websites are speculating that the A6 will probably perform in the same area as the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Krait, which my Galaxy S3 has (and has had for months as well as the HTC One X which has had it for longer).

He said "oh" and decided to change the subject. This is the same guy who tried to argue to me that my HTC Evo 3D was a single core processor device and his iPhone 4 was a dual core device. This guy freely admits that I know technology more than him, as he often comes to me for device help (even with his iPhone), but whenever either he or I get a new device, he always has to try to argue how his is better.
