Will bionic root prevent future system update?

I was going to root my phone but I know that bug fix update is coming out soon. If I root my phone will I run into problems ?

Short answer ... split opinion.

The OTA (over the air) system update is expected to be released in December or January. It is expected that a current system that has not been modified will be updated retaing all user data and applied Apps.

ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) is Android 4.0. It is expected that it will be another OTA later in 2012. It is expected that a current system and OTA systmems that have not been modified will be updated retaing all user data and applied Apps.

The ability to update a device that is root-ed or is not root-ed and has one or more of the leaked updates installed will only be know when the OTAs are released.

Some applications (like movie rentals) have recently started to check to see if the device is root-ed and will not complete the transaction if it is. This may be a new trend for Apps.

Some people assume that the OTAs will allow instalation on a root-ed or modified system. Others adopted a wait-and-see position.
