Sprint did mention it in their Sprint Network Vision Video a while back.

We were promised GPS with the Mogul before it was released, but when it was released, GPS didn't work. Sprint was somewhat mum. Then the forums talk was about a class-action lawsuit because of the false advertising. Sprint even dropped the GPS part of their ads for the Mogul. One techie on the forum took his completely apart, and "proved" that it didn't have the neccesary chip and antenna.
Then the XDA people surprised everyone, including Sprint, and got it working. It DID have the hardware needed somehow. A couple months later, Sprint officially released the GPS fix. So who know what is happening here with EVDO Rev. B? We may have to wait and see.....

Glad they released that statement. It needed to be clarified.
Looks like the Oct 7th announcement is primarily about their LTE plans:
Sprint's LTE build out already underway, new 4G network to launch first half 2012? -- Engadget
If this is true it's good to see that they are planning to use the iDen SMR frequencies for LTE... it should have much better coverage and signal penetration then current 2.5ghz wimax frequencies.
...And from one of the most reliable sources from XDA:
" Omg seriously what is wrong with y'all? Sprint is turning on 1x Advanced which will allow simultaneous usage of voice and data. EvDo Rev. B is not in Sprint's plans at all"
So where does that leave the e4gt? Can it take advantage of that?
Yup, that was posted by unplugged a few posts up. Now the question is do any of the current phones support LTE... which is doubtful.
The EVO3D has the 800MHz band radio. That makes me wonder if they have LTE plans for it? What other reason would they put it in there? The phone will never access the current iDEN network that's on 800MHz.
I believe that the 800Mhz band on Sprint phones is used for roaming on the Verizon network.
Verizon CDMA is 850/1900.
