Will flashing a rom delete everything that I have on my phone

hey there, honestly? to cover yourself i would backup everything you could potentially want to keep.
Personally, whenever i've updated a ROM or firmware, i found the phone is in a stock state(just like i got it out of the box) but everything such as contacts and Gallery items are intact, whether because they are stored on a SIM and SD card respectively im not sure.
Otherwise take it as read that flashing a ROM will erase everything and return the phone to factory condition (just like a hard reset).

Thats all I really wanna know.i wanna flash nero v3. Tired of my buggy vibrant.

Yes. But it's not hard to get them all back. First, I would save all your contacts to your SD card. Next, download Ryan's One click Lag fix (free on market) and use it to root your phone. After you've done that, download Titanium Backup (free on the market). Open it, and hit the menu button. Click Batch. Then backup all applications + user data.

After you've done all this, flash the new rom onto your phone. Once that's done, open up your Titanium Backup (download it again from the market if necessary). Click Batch again, and select Restore all missing applications + user data.

Viola!

Gallery items are either on your SD or on Picasa. Your contacts are sync'd with gmail.

I wouldn't count on Sync. I also flashed my girlfriends Vibrant with Nero, and for some reason, her phone wasn't Sync'd with her gmail account. Sync was activated, but it just didn't do it's job. She wasn't too happy about loosing all her contacts. Best to just save the contacts to the SD card.
