Root Will future OTA upgrades unroot me?

Hi there everyone,

Thanks to everyone's assistance here, I recently rooted my Incredible running the 2.2 provided by my carrier(VZW).

My wife's phone was recently upgraded to 2.3 which got me wondering. When Verizon pushes the update to my phone, will it unroot me? I'm hoping no but thinking yeah :(

If so, is rooting for 2.3 different? I see a sticky at the top concerning root/downgrade, but it seems a little more advanced than my paygrade.

Common logic says an OTA update will fail in your case due to your custom recovery. I've seen stranger thing happen however, so I just always advise to never accept, or attempt to accept updates of any kind as a root user.

Currently, the only way to root 2.3 and stay rooted is the downgrade procedure you noted or there is a temporary root method that can be found on XDA, there's a link to it in the downgrade thread you mentioned.
