will hard reset cause update to vd

will hard reset cause update to vd . I need to do a hr but I'm running vc now and dont want vd :-0 . I just dont want to hard reset and the phone goes into a update or else. has anyone done this?

there is a thread on flashing from emergency mode, says you can flash anything from there, you should look for it.
