If I am rooted and they send out an OTA of ICS would I be able to just update or do I need to unroot then update, cause if it gets sent out I am just going to axe my root until they release a new root method for ICS

once you root, its possible that you will not receive updates via OTA. It may work but odds are it will not. Not sure why you would want that anyway. If you're rooted, running a custom ROM, just wait for a dev to release a new rom based on the recent OTA. It's going to be a better experience anyway.

Just return it back to stock and you should get the OTA. Although I wouldn't expect ICS for this phone for a long time. There will probably be a ROM out long before the official update.
