Will iOS & WP7 Kill Android?

Speculation has surfaced on the net, that these two platforms will eventually kill Android.

What's your opinion?

What's yours? Along with facts, statistics or any piece of information that hasn't been hashed over and over again. Any original thought on the matter? This is compounded by the fact that you didn't bother to include the number one smartphone OS on the planet. If any OS was going to kill any other OS it would be that one. But it hasn't. Of course bringing up that OS wouldn't sensationalize your post, so it's easy to omit, I suppose.

Of course "Speculation has surfaced on the internet"; it's the internet. Any jackass with a keyboard can voice their opinion as fact without the care of actually backing up their argument. In the end the world keeps spinning.

No, WP7 and Android will kill, iOS ... no, wait ... what I mean is Android and iOS will kill WP7 ... no, wrong again ... I think Colonel Muster in the kitchen with a knife will kill all of them .... yeah, that's it.

Here's my opinion. NO they won't kill android. Android is about freedom, and customization. WP7 and IOS are both about corperate control. Now you can claim that WP7 isn't out yet, but Apple and Microsoft both like control. I mean what is truly special about WP7? X-box live? got it at home. I love what my android does, if WP7 can really woo me, that I will think about it. And the Iphone? I'm not a fan of Apple. Do I think WP7 will affect how many android phones come out? yes. Because WP7 and Android are being used by the same OEMs. HTC, LG, Samsung, and Motorola(possibly).

LOL!!

Remember all the "iPhone Killers"? Its still here. Its enought pie for everyone. I hope no one gets killed. I hate funerals....

I always figured that the "IOS will kill Android" rumor was started by Steve "I hate Android Pron Phones" Jobs...

As for Micro$oft, it's got itself an uphill battle just to survive. They turned their backs on their customer base for two years while they re-wrote the OS. They alienated an awful lot of people in that time.

Don't think that any of 'em will die but I think Android will keep steeling users from the other two platforms.

No it was Ms Scarlet in the Billards room with the knife.

The only thing that can kill Android is Google. They are starting to come off a bit arrogant lately (We're caught up, now we're just focused on innovation). I strongly disagree, there are a lot of areas where they need to catch up, mainly with the entire UX, which Gingerbread likely won't fully address.

Feel better now?

Enjoy your day... :)

Yeah seriously, the guy was just asking a question. Why blast him?

And the Symbian thing? Lame. Symbian is dying, albeit a slow death. Unless they innovate big time.

WP7?

Good grief sir, did you even look at the interface of that phone? If I want a portable game console I would have bought an NDS or a PSP (not that I don't have them in the first place).

I rest my case.

I think the only platform truly in danger of losing the majority of their market is RIM. They've still got their niche in the corporate world, but Android is starting to pick up steam in that area as well.

Honestly, Symbian is already dead in the US. They're running strong everywhere else in the world though.

I think there's room in the mobile smartphone world for several platforms to survive. Though some will do better than others, I feel that android will soon be the market leader. The main thing is will WP7 even survive, I personally would never EVER, get another phone from microsoft. Microsoft as a company has pissed me off way too much. Just the WP7 launch doesn't seem to have much going for them, although google's android launch was much smaller, and worse in my opinion.

Only time will tell.

I'd really love to dump windows and run Linux, but commercial companies need to start programming for Linux first, which shouldn't be that hard, given they already program for OSX which isn't TOO far off from other *nix's

And for the ppl that claim Android is "just a toy" I wonder what they will say about WP7. Cuz right now, its more of a toy than Android and iPhone...wait I know what will happen: WP7 will do one thing they need good compared to Android and still say Android is the toy...

Yea I kow an update is supposed to bring the features thats missing right now.....but for them to be working on this for so long....why have those features that deal with functionality be left out for the launch if MS wants to be taken serious?

Nope. Anyone who really "gets" android wouldn't switch, ever. Now, the users who just got it as an iphone alternative may stay to the other side. heck I'm a diehard android user since the g1 but the way wp7 works with the office suite interests me...especially with tmo getting the hd7. But the whole "tile" interface isn't doing it for me.
