Looks like another potential great phone isn't being released in the UK, why is this?
I was interested in the Note 5 to start with but that wasn't released in the UK and there would be warranty issues buying it outside of Europe, what's the reason for omitting Europe for these phones?

Maybe China don't like UK & Europe?
They like USA because they do Billions $$$ of business and USA owes them Billions $$$.

yep,
they really made a huge mistake on that one...

no SD card, no removable battery, no sale.

There are occasions when a phone will hang up so bad, that the only way to recover is to pull the battery.

If that 'feature' is not available, you are screwed with a brick

The non-removable battery I'm going to forgive. However, no SD card basically makes the device an iPhone. I'm still hanging onto my Note 3 because the 4 didn't impress and the 5 just ticked me off.

Let's see what they do with the Galaxy S7... I might forgive them. Maybe.

Well, they say Samsung is bringing back the micro SD with the S7 edge+ in March...
BTW, that Note 4 is a pretty good phone, in fact better than the Note 5. I have one.

5 stars on the Note 4... great phone, unless it breaks, no justifiable reason to replace it.
I have an S5 for backup...

Well, this makes the 4th manager/store I've met that still uses the Note 4 and haven't upgraded to the Note 5 for same reasons I've mentioned previously. The manager, Lindsay:

flipped when she saw my purple Note 4 & purple watchband for the Gear S. She wants me to paint her Note 4 purple.

The Note 4 still smokes the Note 5 as you can remove the battery and you have removable media.
The Note 5 doesn't have either, plus you can remove the back cover to custom paint, like I did mine. See below:

I will be going with the LG v10 as it actually has better features than the Note 5 AND has the removable rear cover, battery & media card. Check it out.

came here to see why, like hardware problems or whatever, but it sounds like a personal customization problem.

I can live without a removable battery. Really. Especially if it has rapid charge and wireless charging. But the lack of a microSD slot is still a total deal-breaker for me. Many of us have reached out to Samsung via their feedback page and I do believe it's made a difference: many sources are reporting the return of the microsSD slot in the S7. And if the S7 has it, it's a good bet that the Note 6 will, too.

My money's ready to throw at Samsung if the Note 6 has a microSD slot. If it doesn't, I'll sadly consider another device. I really did get addicted to the Note 4's functionality, and I miss the S-pen features with my current daily driver. Sammy, take a hint... we NEED a microSD slot!

Well, we will know more after Sundays Feb 21st Mobile World Congress 2016.

Samsung is suppose to bring back the microSD in the S7, S7 Edge +.

If they do, it will probably be in the Note 6 when it comes out later this year. I'm thinking of going with the S7 Edge+ this time around.

all those new Note gadgets will probably not be on my Christmas list, I doubt my Note 4 will be worn out by then...

Yeah, I understand, but, I usually change phones every 1.5-2 years and it's time for change, especially since I'm switching from AT&T to Verizon. As you know Verizon has their own setup and all the other carrier phones won't work with Verizon. So that why I don't have a choice, I have to get a new phone when I switch carriers next month. Can't even wait for the Note 6. So, it's the S7 Edge+ providing it has microSD. If it doesn't, like the title of this post says, time to change brands, probably the LG V10.

For some reason, I have found that after about 20 months my phones start acting squirrely. I have no idea why, I don't do anything new to them. It's like there's a timer in there with a self-destruct chip or something. I'm talking sluggishness, random reboots all over the place, etc. So I switch phones more frequently and have no issue with them :)

Indeed... it wouldn't surprise me a bit if the phones are set up that way as they want to sell as many phones as possible. If the phones lasted a long time, the companies, makers and carriers alike would stand to lose a lot of money. It is all about the $$$ and always will be.

I have had three android phones now (Note 1, 3 and 4) and the last one is approaching one and a quarter years old now. I have never seen random reboots, but the phones did get slightly more sluggish as time went on. However, my biggest problem is that I seem to have bad luck with batteries. My Note 1 battery died is a bad way (on the point of exploding) and my Note 4 battery is showing signs of going the same way. This is why I am nervous about non removables.

Here is a theory though: I get the feeling that you tend to use your phones a lot. Perhaps you are just wearing out the eMMC chips? Have you tried to reflash a phone that is playing up to see if the potential bad sectors get mapped out of the way?

All of this is, of course, a wild guess, but let me finish with a conspiracy theory: I only buy unlocked, unbranded phones and don't have this problem. Perhaps it is not Samsung, but the carriers that are killing off phones ;)

Regards,
Eric.

maybe the carriers would hope we dumped the old phones.

I have a Galaxy S Fascinate (Verizon) that still today, works as good as it ever did, and it is still using the OEM battery.
The battery is not as good as it once was, but it is 'okay'.

by today's standards, the 'S' phone is an antique, but it works, just like it did when it was released.

I have two S5s and also a Note 4....
The Note 4 has taken over as my main workhorse, one S5 is in daily use by my wife as a game toy, and the occasional phone call.

My S5 is a valuable backup and also used as a camera on occasion.

both S5s work just as good today, as the day I bought them.

I've found I can manage without a removable battery, provided the internal battery has enough capacity to last a whole day or night with heavy use. Oppo R7 Plus has a 4100mAh battery, and certainly does me OK. And rapid charging has been very useful as well, especially when travelling, like at airports, etc.

Removable, expandable external SD storage is still a must for me though.

SD or not, the Note 6 is likely to be too expensive for me to justify it. Like previous flagship Samsung devices.
