Hello everyone,

I am pretty much fed up with my Optimus M and the rebooting. It is happening more now..screen locks up, while trying to make a call, etc..it reboots. Has anyone had the problem after rooting and using sense rom? Gonna try to root the phone this weekend..what do I have to lose? lol

Thanks
Mark

I never had a random reboot, however I have had the screen lock on me and I couldn't unlock it; the screen would just stay black and I'd have to pull the battery. Well, it's only happened three or four times and once after rooting and changing ROMs. Hope this helps.

If you just purchased the phone, take it back. There are confirmed cases of changing the ROM to any one other than stock stopping the issue if you want to try, but if you have the option, harass Metro for an exchange first.

Hi,

I bought the phone about 3 months ago and had a hassle from the get go with metro and trying to exchange it. They wanted me to drive 45 minutes to a main store to exchange it. It wasn't worth it figured I would live with it till the new LG bryce comes out in October. So I may give rooting and changing the rom a try and see what happens.. I read the guides on here and I am confident I can do it :) Hopefully I won't brick the thing..lol

As long as you use 1-click Gingerbreak, you'll be fine. If you plan to delete apps, install either Custom Recovery or Titanium Backup PRO (yes, the paid version, it's worth it). Use the safe list sticky as a guide as to what is and isn't okay. Keep in mind some system apps do not even reside on the 'User Data' partition, so they don't really give you any space back when deleted.

IF YOU ROOT INSTALL A CUSTOM RECOVERY. YOU NEED IT AND COMPLETELY WORTH IT. I used to have the reboot issue but it stopped when I changed ROMs.

I dont feel like I have done anything different from anyone else but I have never had random reboots either, when I was stock unrooted i mean, and since rooting this hone has went from a $230 phone at the time I purchased it to what i believe to be worth over $400 if it were sold in its rooted and over clocked state...It was the best decision I ever made with a cell phone lol. so when in doubt...call off work and spend the day in the forums until you are comfortable with rooting and go for it!
