Will the EVO 4G get the "NEW" HTC Sense?

Why would HTC demo their Android skin running on non-HTC products? That doesn't make sense. Excuse the pun.

The Evo is still HTC's flagship phone. There's still a business case for providing updates for this phone (including skins), as we've seen in the past week.

Some one was having fun and showing sense off. It was not an official unit..

The moto Tablet is going to Verizon

eieio...since you are very techy and have some inside insight...

I have the Hero.. and love custom ROMs. the new HTCsense.com has passwords and ID to login... not associated with google (i am guessing).

Question: if the devs can get the new HTCsense.com on a custom ROM for the HERO.... do you think HTC will give their old HTC phones like the HERO access to the new functions via HTCsense.com

This new Sense, along with HTCSense.com looks pretty awesome! They sure have created a market already for that UI.

The only thing that the CEO's presentation was lacking was....
Oh, and one more thing....
(pst.... it's coming to the following phones in Oct........)

I wish I was a techy. lol. I am so far from that it's not funny. I can barely dial a phone..

I work with companies to make Business technology decisions and software and hardware company connections..

As part of that process you get to see or read information and see devices that may or may not make it past the development or test stages

I just don't see HTC putting sense on the hero, it makes no sense business wise..

The EVO yes, it is still new and selling well, has up to date hardware and is a 4g device.

Sprint is hoping to develop a string of 4g specific apps and will push the 4g marketing for the next year and the EVO for now plays a part in that..

Older phones like the hero do not.. (hardware limits, non marketable device, no 4g hype)

i guess we are at the wait and see...situation

Too bad so many people think that we need to keep throwing away perfectly good technology just because something new comes along. And some companies take advantage of that. There are ones that still know the best way to build a customer base is to keep the ones you have already happy. They may not always buy every version but they'll certainly tell their friends to. So far what I've seen from HTC is pretty encouraging.

I don't think that they look past keeping current customers happy, its just that technology moves so fast right now that, these gadgets have shorter life spans, they can not keep up with the tech changes that happen..

The new focus is on faster devices and new OS that will incorporate the new 4g networks and apps on Wimax and LTE..

The new sense is all about the change that is taking place over the next 2-6 months.. Faster connections, new data networks, business and social apps integration and of course tapping a new market to make even more money and selling their devices in that market.

------------

Guess what the new fad device will be and where you will see the new OS showing up on them??

The new Sense is all about HTC getting one OS UI up and running to accommodate Android and WPS. I'm not going to focus on this until I see what happens with Andriod 3.0 and it's improved UI. If Andriod 3.0 is really good, then I'll consider dropping Sense no matter what changes they make.

Any timetable on a release? I am really liking what I am seeing! Being a first time HTC owner, I really enjoy they continue to give their customers updates. Like someone said earlier, I hate just because new phones and technology comes out, they expect everyone to buy that and throw their "old" phone away. Not happening for me. This one is just fine.

I personally think it will come to the Evo before the year is over or will be mentioned. I think it makes more sense for the Desire HD and Z to actually hit shelves first. I mean when you launch something new, you don't beat the device or whatever it may be before it heads to consumers. It's a debut and it needs to be shown off on their newest devices.
I think this is just the beginning and we will see more.

I can definitely see it coming to the Evo and Incredible. Anything else is a maybe or not at all. It'd be real nice if they push the actual new UI and functions to devices that can handle it such as the Evo and Incredible, and just the new HTC functions ( like HTCsense.com ) to all HTC phones that can handle it. That to would probably require some type of software update so things can match up and be synced.

I mean if XDA is already pushing out Desire HD roms to the evo and HTC HD2 then HTC shouldn't let us down.
I heard there was a landscape mode in the Desire HD port for the Evo. I haven't seen it but that would be nice. If it is then why wasn't it shown off during the presentation, or even a tech person didn't show it happening? I assumed that feature was tweaked and hacked but I hear it's native. Idk?

I have a feeling when that Incredible HD (Verizon's Evo look a like) or whatever you want to call it launches then we might get it. Only reason I say that is because it is rumored to have the new sense. I first thought when the Desire HD and Z hit shelves they might of mentioned it, but as you can see nothing happened.

I think it has been confirmed that most new(er) devices (that can handle it) will get the new HTC Sense and htcsense.com access. It will just take a longer time...

I was talking to a top tech over at HTC last week. It was b/c an issue with my phone, anyway I was asking some questions in the downtime about this, since I saw the HTCsense.com site is up.

He told me that it's so new that the info is really restricted. The pilot in the UK is ongoing, for the Z and HD, and they only chose UK b/c that's where the two phones with the new sense launched first.
When I asked about the Evo getting 1. new sense and 2. HTCsense.com access he replied saying that

though he doesn't have anything concrete, that HTC will support all devices 1. running new sense as first prerequisite and 2. that have the cpu power to effectively handle the process.

He continued to say that since the Z (i think it was Z) has only about 800 MHz processing power, that he anticipates the Evo will definitely be permitted to use the new site, but that it is dependent on if/when HTC and Sprint decide to roll out the new sense to the device.

To me it sounds very promising, but I don't think it will be happening anytime soon. HTC currently doesn't even have a forecast for when HTCsense.com will be offered outside the UK, and the expansion of the site is dependent on the success and user engagement in the current setting in UK. i.e. if nobody uses the friggin site, HTC won't bother making the investment on a larger scale.
