will the Galaxy s3 be the best Verizon phone?

Yes, I am. Why don't you just answer the question, instead of making a knee-jerk smart comment. Because if you preorder before the 28th it doesn't matter when it ships. So, again, what about his statement was made untrue by your post?

.... I already quoted the statement that was proven untrue. Let me try again, read it closely:

"But however it shakes out, I'm sure it will be out before the end of the month."

Well, Verizon just pushed back the SHIPPING date to July 10th today. If my calculations are correct, July 10th is in fact after the end of the month

Umm, their website says "BY" July 10th, not "ON" the 10th... The actual date could be anywhere from tomorrow til the 10th.

I'm leaning towards waiting for the Droid HD/Fighter/whatever due to not being a big Samsung fan. I can live with the new tiered data - so, that's not a MAJOR factor, butttt I am getting antsy.

Here's the question - Are any of the U.S. releases prior to 6/28 the same phone (with LTE)? . I'm waiting to see the initial reviews - and them might jump (on the SIII).

Me too, DILands, I just gotta see the Razr HD before making any decision on a future phone.

Not because I'm not a Samsung fan cuz I had 2 Samsung phones in the past and was perfectly happy with both. But because I have an Motorola Droid X now (Best phone I've ever had btw) and just have to see what the next possible Droid flagship phone will bring to the table.

Also, I've been figuring the new shared data plans many possible ways and comparing the results to the 3 phone (my "X" and 2 iPhones) family plan we have now, and it falls between saving about $9 to being within a few pennies of our current plan. This is after figuring our corp discounts, and even figuring taxes and fees into the mix. Mostly it works out because our 3 phones only use about 2 to 2-1/2 GB's of data per month. However, our current 3 phones are all 3G phones, so when I upgade to 4G and the wife and daughter upgrade to the new iPhone 5 which is rumored to be 4G, our data use may rise which might require upping our Data bucket size.

Hopefully my wife won't make me sell my Dodge Viper in order to afford the increase costs.

I remain, patiently/impatiently waiting for the release of the Razr HD.

I'll wait to see what the initial take is on the SIII. I don't want to get the SIII just for the sake of getting the SIII - and sticking with it for 20 months if I'm not happy with it. Yeah - I know - there will be an aftermarket for it - but - I don't know that I want that hassle.

I have the ThunderBolt - and definitely do NOT want another HTC.

I do think that there are 2 questionable assumptions (the only way I could phrase it) with your logic:

1) I would almost bet that your data usage will go up, and
2) I don't think that we know for sure how the corporate discounts are going to be applied (or not).

Then - as antsy as I am to jump on the SII - I read this thread http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-razr-maxx/560504-anyone-jumping-ship-samsung-s3.html - my wife has the Maxx - and I absolutely love the build quality (and battery life).

People here are arguing - this one's better - no, this one's better - IMHO - just like everything - there's not a correct answer - the SIII may be the best for someone else (based on their needs and wants) and the Razr Fighter maybe best for me.

Like you - I'm patiently impatiently waiting . . . . .

Sprint or US Cellular will be the closest to the VZW version since they both use CDMA technology. Sprint is supposedly releasing on or around the 20th, but not sure of the US Cellular release date.

In regards to your point 1), since we now use between 2 and 2-1/2 GB of data, and the majority of that is my daughters and wifes constant use of facebook, even if our total usage rises to 3 to 3-1/2 GB's, we can still get by with a 4GB data bucket. However, should our usage go higher than that, the the 6GB data bucket is in our future. But even then that brings our bill upto within pennies of our current bill, and we can easily handle an increase. (don't tell Verizon this fact though, :))

In regards to your point 2). Verizon has said they will honor only the data discount. There is a webpage that indicates this. I looking for the link now. Here it is, look under the B2B section.

Lastly you are correct, since everyones needs are different, there is no one phone that is best for everyone.

So, waitin' for more info on the Razr HD. (It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it!) ;)

That discount stinks - but - I guess I'll take it. I really would love to jump on the S3 - but - if I do it - the only 2 reasons I'll be doing it are 1) to jump because I'm tired of The Thunderbolt, and 2) to keep the last bit of unlimited data (which I'm not really sure we NEED).

Here's what I think I can do - switch over to the shared data (when I get the Razr HD). If we hit 75 with more than a week left - up the data. It's somewhat of a PITA to have to keep doing that - but - if they want me to share data - they can share my pain.

If you want to hear how paranoid *I* am - it's apparent that VZW wants everyone on 4G - that's fine - once everyone gets there - VZW switches to VoLTE - and says "it's ALL data". . .

The discount stinks.... well, it does and it doesn't. My data discount is 20%. Currently that is 20% off the primary lines data charge which is $29.99 which amounts to $6.00. With the shared data plan, it's still 20%, but it's off the shared plan you choose. In my case it will be 20% off the 4GB plan ($70) or 6GB plan ($80) which is $14.00 or $16.00 respectively.

One nice thing is Verizon you will be able to get text messages or email letting you know when you are getting close to or exceed you data limit.

Patiently/impatiently waiting for the Razr HD.
