Will the Rezound w/ Extended Battery cover creak?

First thing's first, the 1620mAh battery won't be even close to enough for me. 2750 extended it is.

Now, I'm a build quality nut. It bothers me to no end if the phone exterior housing has any give or creaking when held or lightly squeezed. The trend I have seen is that a lot of phones that do not have any creaking with the stock battery tend to have it with the extended battery cover(Incredible, Thunderbolt, and Bionic suffered from this) because it tends to have more hollow areas and the material itself is not very sturdy.

The phone feeling 100% perfectly solid in the hand with the stock battery cover is no indicator that the extended will not creak because the Thunderbolt was like that. I know we won't get any real answers until someone has the phone and the extended battery but maybe someone will get it early.

Thoughts?

It'll creak, sorry...

They have the extended battery at a local VZE corp store. Summary:

1. Build is good
2. Makes the Rezound seem like a clogging shoe... a clog.
3. Thick man, thick!
4. A case would make it ludicrous speed huge! Finding a holster for it may be an issue.

Though I appreciate the need for more battery life, this option makes baby have back! Yowsa! ;)

Got the extended battery this morning, I have noticed any creaks yet and played with it and even tried twisting it a bit.

With the new cover and battery on it feels about as heavy as my T-Bolt did with the standard battery and still feels better in the hand.

It is taking a lot longer to charge waiting to see full charge, currently at 75% and rising.

Either you have huge hands or enjoy clogging :)

Want to see some pics of the extended battery actually being used!

Just got it today, so I'll have to report on usage tomorrow. It makes it thick, but it has a nice curve to it that really fits my palm, and I actually find the extra thickness comfortable.

haha thanks, I'm imagining with this beast I could get 2 days of use, or one day of tethering all day while on the phone while playing angry birds with the screen on auto brightness lol. The extra thickness will be worth it, especially at half price.

I'm also guessing that it may 'sit' in your hand better. That is one of the reasons i gonna get a case... or get this beast! cant decide!! lol

thanks again for the pics, that really helps

Quasimodo!

One thing: Why does the stock cover have all the metal strips, but the extended does not? I thought they were there to help the reception of the device.

I haven't really had a loss in reception, but I don't get it either.

I was browsing through the owner's manual and it states that the strips on the stock cover are in fact antenna related. I tested this in the store: took the back cover off and watched as the phone went from 3 bars to 0!

Was hoping you might be able to give us an update? Clearly VZW would not sell a batter/cover combo that effectively eliminated the antenna of the phone so I wonder what gives?

Perhaps someone could email HTC/Vzw/or even a seller of the extended (like htcpedia) and see what response they get? This is a huge deciding factor in buying an extended battery

I'll do some more precise testing later but I'd say that the signal quality is the same with the extended battery.

I think I'm actually getting better signal with the extended battery. It does have metal strips that contact the actual metal parts on the back of the phone, but not the strips on the top part of the inside, if that makes sense.

Got the Rezound with extended battery last night.. Yes, it's huge.. Yes, it takes forever to charge to full.. The new back has the "antennae related" strips embedded on it, but they are all insulated with a black material with the exception of the contact points. I haven't noticed any creaking, and I like the heft as it lets me know I'm holding something. I'm coming from a Fascinate, and that thin wafer felt like it was going to slip out of my hand every time i tried to maneuver it. The only thing I don't like about the extended battery is that it negates the use of the silicone case Verizon sold me.. I haven't found a case that will fit it yet..

I thought the strips were so the stock battery could use a charging mat and the extended battery doesn't support charging mats?

Btw verizon sells a holster case that has a belt clip on it. It is two pieces. One snaps on the phone like a protective cover and can handle the phone with or without the extended battery. The other piece has belt clip on it and the phone and first attached piece slide in to it. It works well but I don't really go for belt clips and that part is now floating around my car somewhere while I find the other part works well as a protective case.

It is a hard shell, just don't be put off by the belt clip part you don't have to use it.

Oh yesterday I unplugged at 430 in the morning and plugged back in at 12 midnight and phone was not dead et and I used the heck out of it yesterday.

HTCPedia has some cases for the extended battery

For me, it seems that my signal bars are increased, or the same in most places. HOWEVER (that is a big however) I have not seen 4g with it yet, and I have checked all of my settings... many times :(
