I'm looking for a android phone that will alert me of new emails, since I run a business this is vital. I have found this phone that I'm interested in,
Telus LG Optimus One Prepaid Smartphone : Telus Prepaid - Future Shop

But when I goto the futureshop they tell me they aren't sure and say they only know it would show new email on screen, I goto the telus store they tell me it will beep, now will it with the gmail APP on them or no?...I just need a prepaid phone that will beep or play a ringtone when a new email arrives in my gmail account, feel free to browse future shops site for one for me. Thanks in advance.

All Android phones can do that. It's the default setting. I have an LG Thrive which is the AT&T version of the LG Optimus One phone you're looking at and it can definitely be set to ring/beep/vibrate when an email is received. You can even set different notification alerts for different Gmail labels.

It will beep if you have a new email IF you are connected to internet. Seeing as you will get it as a prepaid phone, and no data plan, it will not beep. How could it know if you have a new email if its not connected to the internet? Otherwise it needs to be always connected to the internet via WiFi, meaning that when you are away from WiFi, like when in the car or on commute, you wont get email alerts.

Umm, my LG Thrive is on AT&T GoPhone prepaid and I can get notification alerts just fine. I got the $25/500MB data package for the first month and just do subsequent $5/10MB top-ups every 30 days to rollover unused data. There's also pay as you go but it doesn't work on smartphones (an AT&T restriction) and is quite expensive ($0.01/5KB). I use around 3MB data everyday on the Thrive just running the background stuff (calendar, contacts, email syncing) and using Google Voice for SMS.

Just because it's prepaid doesn't mean 3G data is not available.

OP never mentioned anything about not getting a data plan. He just said he's on prepaid, that's it.

Yes, he is on prepaid or pay as you go. Everybody I know who is on prepaid has mobile internet turned off to avoid accidental charges. And with the lack of additional info, I am simply letting the OP know that there must be an active internet connection for email alert.
