will unlocked htc desire work fine in india and receive software updates?

hi frnds i will be buying a brand new unlocked htc desire from an asian country.will it work fine in india(where it is yet to be launched) and will it receive froyo 2.2 as soon as it is made available worldwide?

I'm from Mauritius and I bought my Desire online. It is yet to be launched here as well. It works fine. Since it's unlocked it will work in india as well, unless your network operator uses non-standard networks(I doubt that)

To quote the specs:

Network Bands:

Europe:

• HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
• GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Asia Pacific:

• HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
• GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Just verify if your network corresponds to one of those bands(it should anyway)

As for android 2.2, I guess it will be available worldwide.
