Nexus Q

So, is anyone excited about this product? Will you pay $299 for it?

I sure like the idea, just watched the discussion about it during I/O 2012.

There are just so many things that you can do with it, like at parties .. someone wants to hear a song you don't have but they do, they just throw it in the q and bam

But the price to me seems a little high, so I will probably not be getting it unless someone wants to buy it for me? ;)

I agree, the price is way too high. But I am definitely excited for this product. It is almost their version of apple tv but better. Awesome.

Better yet, it will work with Android Tablets. I am especially excited because I believe I am investing in the new Google Nexus 7 tablet!

It's really expensive, specially compared to apple tv. Plus you can't stream DNLA or Netflix? This is going to go the way of Google TV, a few early adopters and that's about it.

Yep, it's very shiny but it's too expensive. For my needs, my jailbreaked Apple TV is a better bet.

But it's a first-generation product, and I'm betting it'll be more competitive.

I'm much more interested in the fact/idea that Google made this. They didn't talk about any partners or getting anyone else involved. In the presentation one of the boards they showed actually had Google and USA marked on it.

Google takes over Motorola. The play store is selling devices now. Google is getting into manufacturing. They already have the Nexus line.

Is this where things are headed with Googorola? Could the next Nexus device be entirely made by Google? I know there is plenty of talk about them upsetting the other companies, but with Samsung doing so well and HTC on the rise with One series would they really do anything? At this point in the game could they do anything?

The introduction of the Nexus Q brings to my mind a lot more interesting questions and possibilities.

Yeah, I think it's the beginning of a trend, but whether it's a good one or not, I don't know. Honestly, a surprising number of this week's announcements looked like Google has decided it needs to copy Apple's business plan if it wants to prosper. It'll be interesting to see if that works, but it's not easily done ... after all, look what happened to the Zune.

No Google has already stated that buying out Motorola wouldn't affect the way they do business. The Galaxy Nexus is such a small part of Samsung, they much rather deal with their own SGS 3. I wouldn't mind Google putting out there own hardware with there own support. When I have the N1, Googles customer service was outstanding.

from history... what a company says today.. does not affect what they MIGHT do in the future.

as for the Q... i am still not sure of it.. and the price is just to high. $299.

it would be a very simple .. for sony or lg or any OEM... to incorporate this into any their current google tv devices.. as the next model.
like the sony DVD/DVR devices that have with google TV in them. and charge say $350 - 400. i would prefer this.

I really have no desire to get one, at least not what I have seen so far about it.

Combine the Q with Google TV, and I would be all over it. Just for music however I think the price is just far too high for what it does.

I am excited to see google expanding into hardware and selling products through Google Play though.

Unfortunately it seems to be USA only, like with many of Google's products and services. Probably wouldn't be any need for me to have one anyway. I've got a Skyworth Android STB that can stream content from my PC and phone via DLNA, as well as interactive and multimedia content from the internet.

After looking into this more I retract my statement. I think I may be an early adopter. This isn't just a plastic sphere, Google actually spent time and energy into design something with quality materials and craftsmanship. There is another company out there who does the same thing, charges double for it and people flock to buy it.

I have been complaining for years about the lack of quality going into some electronics (my phone is glass and plastic while the iPhone is glass and aluminum, may not mean much to you, but it means something to me) and I think I am ready to start spending money on better quality components. Besides that it's time that we get some accessories like this. Apple has been getting awesome gear from Bose, JBL etc.... while we get nothing. iFans have no issues dropping $600 for a Bose dock. So yea, I am setting my eyes on one of these.

I won't be getting one. Although I do think it is cool, I guess I'm just happy with what I have now. I'm more of a slow adopter. If things I have work for me, I tend to stick with it.
