Help Windows 7 64-bit Doesn't See Droid X

ARGH! Found the answer in another forum while at work so I forgot to get the link.

I have had ALL of the issues posted above. In XP, the DX is recognized OK. HOWEVER!!! In Win7 x64, you need to use the original ECOMOTO USB cable that shipped with the phone. I have tried this with 4 cables; 3 failed, 1 worked.

No Rebooting Required. No downloading extra drivers required. It's done did, baby!!

The final product is the following interface... (minus the lame compression pixelation)

It works with our old ENV2 usb cable. What cable is not working for you? Did it come with something else?
 
I have tried each and every one of these solutions and I still can't get it to work. Works fine on my xp box at work, works fine on 32 bit win7 boxes at work, but 64bit 7 at home - no go. Even after installing moto's own 64 bit drivers! This is ridiculous.

edit: my 7 version is Ultimate.

I was having the same problem until I noticed that I had left my phone's USB Connection in PC Mode...once I switched to Windows Media Sync mode everything worked fine. I had just installed Windows 7 Pro 32 and was certain Microsoft had "done me wrong".

Apologies in advance if you take offense at such a dumb suggestion.
 
Previously I had Windows XP and DroidX/PC connection was simpler but I had lots of struggles. Recently I bought a new laptop with Windows 7 and now connecting DroidX was so complex and most of times impossible.

Sometimes I would leave the usb with either "pc mode" or "windows media sync" or "usb mass storage" and all of sudden after a few minutes or even longer, it suddenly connects. I don't think usb wire that come with doridX is a good one. The connection gets very "shaky" after some normal use. The first wire that came with DoridX is so bad I can't use it.

It seems that my pc has to debate whether it should connect to my phone. I tried all kinds of things just to connect it without struggling, but now I tried the suggestion given on this forum - "mortorola media link" installation.

I think, for the first time I am having an easy time connecting my windows 7 to my droidX!

I know from my experience that connecting droidX to Windows is a complex issue. Just because something worked for someone's pc doesn't mean it would work for your situation.

OS Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
Motorola bravo droid 2.2

hope this helps but for my bravo I have my computer turned ON then plug in the USB cable that came with the phone while the phone is OFF. Once cable is plugged in to both the computer and phone then turn the phone on. Once it boots, drop down the notification bar and open USB connection to set what you want to do. At this point the computer should recognize the phone and load the proper drivers. This has worked for me every time
