Help Windows movie (wmv) file problem

Did a search, but can't find as answer to my problem. Hopefully this question doesn't make me look like too much of a noob!!

I have a couple of .wmv files that I used to be able to play on my DX, but now they won't play. I get a box that pops up with the error message "File cannot be displayed or played." I know the files are ok, as I've played them before and can play them on my PC. I also have a buddy that sends me .wmv files that I can no longer view.

I'm wondering if the program that is supposed to open them got changed somehow. Is there a way to set what program opens what type of file or a way to set the default program, like you can with Windows on a PC?

And a battery pull. Downloading mVideoPlayer from the market now. I'll try this program and see if I can play the videos with it.

Still would like to know why I can't play them with the built in program.

what have you changed since you last played them? installed any new apps, ROMs, etc.?

The only new app I installed was Flickie wallpapers. I uninstalled it and then the video played. Don't get that one.
