Help Windows not recognise S2.

Hello.

My S2 bought in england.
I wanted to update the software on my phone, but the computers that I have tried cannot recognise my phone. I have tried countless times to re install KIES and download the required drivers. My phone used to connect without an issue, now it doesn't. All it does is charge. If I restart my phone with the USB cable still attached, Windows makes that sound when you plug a USB in. However as soon as start up is finished, it makes the sound as if a USB has been removed, but my phone is still charging. If I try different slots after this, it charges but windows does not alert me that I have plugged anything in, and my phone thinks that it is being plugged into a wall.

Very Frustrating, I'm pretty sure I have tried everything. Different ports, different computers, uninstalling KIES and installing it again, factory reset my phone, the lot. Nothing helps.

Have I overlooked something? All ideas would be helpful, apart from recommending I do something I have already done.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums CallumRose! :)

To say the least, Samsung's PC Suite, Kies, can be very fickle.

You have, it would seem, carried out the basic steps for connecting your phone to Kies and so it might now be time for this excellent post by Hawker...
