Root Windows will not see as a MTP

Curious if anyone has info about this?

I have a PC with Windows 8.1 Update
As most are aware, there has been a driver issue with this system but was easily fixed by enabling test mode with unsigned drivers. However.............

My PC sees my N5 and I have complete access to it and can flash roms etc. It does not see my N7 (2013) version. All it sees is the device as a camera PTP (same as the N5 prior to enabling test mode) but not as a media device MTP like the N5. I need it to see it as a MTP in order to root it and install the FLO DU rom.

Any ideas?

Wipe all n7 drivers from PC and remove n7 from devices, the plug it in to PC and let it re install the drivers.

I had that problem after I had the driver installed, on the tablet go to Settings/Storage on the top right click USB connection and make sure Mtp is checked

Thanks for the help :)

Nothing seems to work but I found a solution. It seems the Skip Soft Tool Kit sees the N7 through ADB so I managed to unlock and root it.
Also, I use BOX to upload the Dirty Unicorns Rom and a Gapps package and download it to the root directory. I have flashed both thru TWRP and all is well.
No matter what I do, Windows 8.1 will not see the device as a MTP. Have tried almost everything but as I said above, I really am fine with it anyway :):)

Go into your control panel and search/open device manager.

Connect your device to the computer and find it on the list.

Double click the device and move to the driver tab. Click Update driver.

Click "Browse my computer" and then "Let me pick from a list"

Select the MTP driver if listed.

Reboot if needed.
