hey everyone, first of all thank you oceanlight for posting this up! I was about to make a thread, but yours came up first!

I have been poking through those results, and agreed some are impossible to find...but what you want to do is just google the app with "android" on the end, then find the developer website. From there, it either says will be available very soon (Tasker), or it will give you a link or a download in order to install it on your own(FoxyRing). Foxyring actually has an OTA link...but when clicked, it brings you into the Market to install. But when I searched in the market for foxy, or foxyring, it didn't show up at all. Weird! Hopefully this thread can become which ones people like at how they work on the droid!

Thus far, I've messed around with FoxyRing, WaveSecure Beta, and Graviturn(easy to find on market), and they all seem to be working just fine. I've played with them for five minutes each, but the interfaces are all pretty nice. What I like about checking out all these apps is you know that these are the developers that are currently working hard for competitions like this, and they're constantly improving themselves. They're all eager for feed back and will be quick to update. I wish google did competitions like this, or at least had constant rankings from them, more often! That way it would be really to always see the upcoming developers making the latest and greatest!

my question with wavesecure is, the if your phone is stolen we'll text your friends new pins thing is really cool, but it says in the directions that it will send if your phone has another SIM installed. Clearly our Droid's don't have SIM cards, so I assume that doesn't work? Just another case of Android market having many different hardware options, but it would be cool if the dev figured out some way to enable it for the new Droid phones on VZ! Don't know how you would do it, but would be cool.

Although, guess it doesn't matter too much since as far as I know 4G uses elements of GSM, so I assume VZ phones will start getting SIM's in the next 1-2 years. But right now, we're stuck with the hardware we got!

I love the backup SMS/Contacts/Call log option in Wavesecure, its so easy and works flawlessly!

@scottyent. yeah i am assuming that you are correct that the sim functionalities don't apply to droid. but here's where the utility lies for me:

when i lose my phone, i know i've lost it. i don't care if it sends a txt to my friend to tell me i've lost it. what i like is the ability to log onto the site and...

A) lock the phone with wavesecure's lock
B) remote wipe all my data

edit: i have not tried the backup/restore, etc functionalities yet, so i guess i should reserve judgement.

absolutely a good point with the losing the phone...i feel the same way, just got caught up in the novelty of my friend getting a text telling me my phone was stolen it was cool, so I wanted it to work!

But you're right, the lock and remote wipe is most important, and back up for me is just something nice to have (I love having SMS backed up, and the ability to search through them for whenever I want to recall what was said a long while ago, same reason I log instant messages and gmail chats).

now that i think about it, backup/restore is pretty useful because if i do lose my phone, i'll get it replaced. and then it would be nice to be able to restore everything back to it's original state. my contacts are the most important, and that's already backed up by google, as well as email and settings. but yeah, i think it would be nice to be able to restore things like pictures, etc as well.
