Root [WIP][DEV] Custom Recovery/Bootloader unlocking Work In Progress Thread

we all bought the wrong phone to mod. people can talk all day but aint nothing gonna happen.me and everybody with a motion should have done more research.good phone but its always gonna be stock for the most part. all in all we should be very happy anyway i am. if you get mad at what i just said thats ok . show me and yourself how i am wrong.most the time when a phone gets a new oc kernel it doesn't even improve the performance anyway. it just ups the voltage and what have you . people think that makes the phone faster when sometimes it makes it slower .most people just follow the crowd and dont know sh-- plus im getting sick and tired of people acting like they have an understanding of things that are way beyond them. so in Conclusion talk trash do what you like but i am gonna be real about it.

Pessimism and doubting gets you no where in life. I'm sure the phone will be unlocked some day... it's a matter of when.

Also, I didn't buy the phone to mod it, I bought it to have a nice phone (that is better than most), but modding would just add to the package.

As for buying other phones, the only phone good (on metro) in comparison to this is the S3, and ROMs/mods are not worth the extra $200 to me. (That could buy me a N7... Lol)

i love this phone i just think i may stay locked and so be it if it is. btw thank you for not being rude.

Am i the only one who bought this phone because its a jaw-breaking skull-cracking beast for its price and with no concern over its software mod-ability?

Niz, you seem very bitter about this. If you believe you've been wronged by LG, sell your phone and buy a competitor's.

I'll keep waiting patiently while the big brains put the pieces together for us in the meantime, thoroughly enjoying the hardware/software package that LG/Metro advertised without embellishment (in fact faster than advertised) and i purchased willfully.

You make it seem like we have all been wronged.
 
Well some guy with the regard said he will try the root method & see if it works so that's the 1st step to getting stuff done
 
Personally, I want recovery to avoid all the soft-brick software reflashing and rerooting. If lg keeps putting out updates, I'd rather be able to go back a firmware so I could avoid a brick from removing play magazines/books/movies. Plus the idea of having jellybean on my motion is just too amazing.

Kind of inviting a response here. I'll bet there will be a counter-response. Then a counter-counter-counter-counter-response.

Kind of making it hard to not get it de-railed up in here again, yeah?

Some things are best sorted in a private message or in another thread.

If there's no end to the last word (and we all know the deal - there never is), then mods come in, start deleting things, the world turns backwards, rain rises from the ground and falls upwards to the sky, dogs and cats start living together, the butterfly effect removes the invention of sliced bread, you won't rotate your tires, and bigfoot will come and apply for a job where you work.

Is it really worth it?

I think this thread had a perfectly cromulent topic already. :)

Yeah, so anyways,

i know it is stagnant right now people, it's the holidays...people have lives and are busy with them....we will not be seeing any progress until January, so let's not get our undies in a bunch over anything...I personally would love to see a ROM on this phone, but honestly even if we get the bootloader unlocked we will still need a Dev for a ROM...so let's just be patient, keep hassling LG and keep a look out on other forums for help and most of all, let's keep our hopes up, we'll figure something out soon enough...

and like it has been said, even if this phone does not get a ROM, we have overclocked it to 1.5gHz....and yes, it is an overclock because LG press releases say it is supposed to be 1.2gHz...and it is an amazing phone for how much we paid for it...

and with that i will say happy holidays to you all and let's keep our chins up and our fists in our pockets....


EDIT: Notice i did not say "we will probably not see any progess"...i stated a fact, we will not see any progress until January...sorry if this irritates you, but it is true...

Staring into my crystal orb I'm seeing almost every phone in 2013 with Jelly Bean and Key Lime Pie. People shun Windows 8 and give Linux a go. LG releases the unlock tool (key) to all their ICS phones. Everyone with 64 bit Linux starts cooking ROM's and themes for the masses. The Nexus 4 goes on sale and sells out in an hour, again. A Chinese company buys the recipe from Hostess and Binkies hit U.S. shelves, fat kids everywhere are happy again!

:D I'm okay with this.
I'm sure if lg had released unlocked phones, they would be selling out too.
...I wish it were so.
