Root [WIP]Glazed Gingerbread

I finally decided to actually make the rom since many of you guys were asking for it, and i see that many will support me by donating and being beta testers.

Im currently working at a slow pace because im really busy working on like 3 other roms excluding this one. So give me a break and please NO ETA's, its done when its done.

Progress Update
Make A Steady Base (Done, Just need usb mounting drivers fixed)
Remove Bloatware (Done)
Optimize the system
Get aroma and scripts working (Almost done)
Change some of the ui a bit and images
Add Features
Create Boot Animation (Pain IN the A**)
Mess with the LG Spectrum, LG Viper, Roms for Extras
Testing Period (3 Slots Open, pm for reservation)

BTW i might be a little slower because my retarted computer decided to randomly erase all my data, UGHHHH, i might have a backup in my phone.

Thanks guys for being so supportive, hope this will kickstart the rom development for this phone.
 
As a very tech savvy person with not a lot of android experience other than rooting, I would like to offer any help I can. I can pick up stuff really quick so if you or anyone can tutor me per say I can start helping you out with the dev stuff. Just a thought.
 
It's not necessarily a lack of support as it is a newer platform. We're all ready for new roms at any time and plenty of us are ready to test accordingly. :smokingsomb:
 
ill support!!! We need more devs for this phone man its going by so slow. I remeber when I had my optimus V there were updates almost everyday!
 
I'd be very much interested in seeing the result of this. Glazed ICS looks awesome, and I am sure Glazed Gingerbread will be equally awesome =D

From what I can tell, the risks for a permanent brick are very very low. There is one thread in here about fixing bricks and its basically the fact that this phone has download mode makes it very recoverable with the mobile support tool. I hope some better heads come in here but especially since getting cwm and a back up going is super easy I think this phone is a perfect candidate for a sweet Rom.

Ok so i got my phone rooted, but whenever its doing the clockwork mod it shows 2 errors of 2 files not found, not sure what that means and it says that clockworkmod was installed but it isnt, any ideas on how to fix this.

download rom manager and flash recovery lol then retyr

You should flash cwm from rom manager. I found it to work the best because the newer ones in this forums have tendencies to get stuck bootlooping.
 
Thank you Hyperrunner, it's great to see more people becoming interested in LG Connect 4G. I'm trying to get more people interested in this phone, it really is a great device. I know it has a lot of potential to become even better and look forward to your work, I'll help in any way that I can seeing as these forums have already given me so much help.
 
Ok this is going to be my plan, im going to start with a fresh system and mod it from there. So while i mess with it a little bit you guys can request anything you want unless its almost impossible EX - "I WANT ICS". Small things like delete metro crap, speed system up. Im going to be using the breakout rom kernel for this.

Im going to need a stock rom that is flashable, if someone can point me to the right direction.

I just made a stock Flashable meaning that it can be flashed through CWM without needing to restore or anything. That might not seem like a big deal but it really is when making a rom, having a stable stock base. Just need to update the network drivers so they can work with the new kernel. :D
 
Nice, well if ur taking requests can you please include all the hidden menus, and it would really unlock the power of this phone if we had a gpu overclock feature :)

If you get a new Rom out this will really kick start development for the Connect maybe you can pair up with pg and get his Cm9 going lol. I know he's having kernel problems
