Help Wipe a note 2 with broken screen

RTC1986

Lurker
My fiancee dropped her note 2 and destroyed the screen we have insurance on it but I would like to wipe it before I send it to them is there any way to do this?

Sorry if this is a repeat topic I tried to search around but couldn't find anything

Thanks in advance,
Rtc

Only way I can think is plugging it into a PC and doing it that way. Not sure if its possible but worth a try.

I have not tried this and not sure if this will work.

Connect phone using Kies. Within Kies, go to Tools>Firmware Upgrade and Initialization. A box will pop up stating:
The device can be initialized to its original settings.
All settings and data will be deleted, and the latest software version will be installed.
Do you want to proceed with the firmware upgrade and initialization?
Hit 'OK' to continue. Not sure what it will do next or if you need to be able to see the screen afterwards.

This does sound like it does do a factory reset on the phone.

Let us know how it goes if it works or if it doesn't.

I'm hoping this will work for you.

Sorry, I just re-read your post. Am I correct in assuming you cannot view the screen? Or is the screen broken, but you can still access/view the screen?

If you can still view the screen and the hardware buttons still work, do the following in my post (#6) to do a hard (factory) reset on the phone.

You do not require the touch screen at all. Just as long as you can view the screen and the hardware volume, power and home buttons are still functional. This will work. I've used this method a couple times already.

You could also try the 'Wipe my mobile' option that Samsung offer at

Find my mobile | Samsung Content & Services

However, before you do this or any other form of factory reset, I suggest you use Kies to back up your settings. I only use Kies for backing up settings and firmware upgrades and it has always worked correctly for me.

PS It might be as well to remove the SD card before doing any form of FR.
