Root wipe before restoring nandroid?

I have multiple nandroid back ups. Mostly RA but 1 clockwork too. I haven't restored yet one yet. Would I treat it just like flashing a rom and wipe everything first, or just restore it?

Basically, a nandroid restore will overwrite whatever is in each partition with the contents of the backup. Since each backup contains at least an image for data, cache, system, and boot (by default on most), wiping beforehand wouldn't matter. If you're particularly paranoid, you can wipe before. It only takes a few seconds. I never both wiping first, and it doesn't make a difference.

also make sure you are only restoring a nandroid that you made with your current recovery, i.e. if your on Amon now , dont try to restore a clockwork nandroid :)
