Wipe Data before Fro Yo OTA?

Hey so I'm unrooted and just running Launcher Pro Plus. Is there any benefit to wiping phone before getting the 2.2 OTA update? It's really annoying to have to re setup everything you know? Just wondering.

Your main benefit would come from performing a factory reset AFTER doing the OTA. that way you already have the new software and you are getting rid of all the remnants from 2.1

Hey, I'm sure this is in another post but since we're here...How do you factory reset and would it be smart to back up Launcher Pro screens and then just restore after the reset? Or just replace everything manually?

Restore manually or however way you want to. Re-add all your stuff if you want. I know some of us are that anal about orphaned files that we'd do as much, but for the average joe....meh. Whatever floats your boat. You have much to learn young pattowan.

i am on my second device, on the first one while waiting for my replacement i was running launcher pro when i updated to the leaked 2.2. the update went as smooth as could be, none of my major settings or screens got changed. it was pretty simple.

ive got my phone set up now with just lp and waiting for the official update. will not worry about doing a wipe.

basically unless your really into monitoring about your device it probably wont hurt you to not to a factory data reset but if you really want to ensure a clean 2.2 its a good idea to do it just write down a checklist so you remember to reset everything and i would use appbrain as a backup for apps

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm going to go ahead and do a wipe once it finally comes out... I like the checklist idea and will just keep a checklist of all screens and what not. I'm glad it doesn't wipe the SD Card.
