Wipe device software and installer New

Device Afunta - 8' A23 model

Just got the device last week and I have spent a few days trying to first just get the device to show up on my PC because every time I do adb devices and go through all the troubleshooting it still comes up blank.

Found the "technical support". After talking with them I find out that they loaded a Chinese version of the 4.2.2 software which is not compatible in English for the link to get updates AND is not compatible on getting the drivers on my PC. I even tried using the SDK extra USB drivers and that didn't work either.

The tablet works fine out of the box. But I wanted to root it, change ROM, partitions, etc... and nothing recognizes it.

Before anyone asks, this was a gift from my wife - I did not pick it out.

So given I have 4.2.2 software that is stock. I would like to, in essence wipe or format the device of the foreign software, and place an english version 4.2.2 on the tablet.

Any ideas...

Since you spoke to tech support, did you ask them if they had an English ROM, and if you could get a copy of it, and of any software (since adb won't do it) needed to flash it?

I wouldn't waste time thinking that I'd find a ROM (of any kind) for an orphan device.

Yeah find the english firmware first. Flashing it will replace the system so theres no need to wipe it

Well - any time I flash a ROM I first wipe everything. Some ROMs self-initialize on installation, some just assume they're starting up again in the same phone they were backed up from, and freak out when they see the crazy data from the old ROM.

I was waiting to hear from the tech support to see if there is any English version and no luck. Is it safe to use any version of 4.2.2 to flash since they don't have one for me? I'll research some flash options. If anyone has a suggestion let me know

No. The firmware/rom has to be built for that device.
Like, the android OS for a Nexus device is the purest version you can get but it will never run on yours.
Dont even try man

It's too bad too, because any distro of Linux will run on just about any reasonable assortment of hardware. Google could have done it differently, so that 4.3 is 4.3 and runs on anything powerful enough to run 4.3. Or maybe that's the whole idea (tin foil hat about half on).

Thanks for the input and the warnings. I'm going to continue to press for a manual update from the staff for English. Sounds like my only option at the moment.

Let ask another question or thought to see if I can't break this down. Since I can pass files to the SD card and start in fastboot, is there a way I can run the commands from the device in fastboot since I can't run adb commands from the pc because it doesn't recognize the device drivers because they are in Chinese?
