Help WIPED by the 2.3.4 upgrade

So I get a little android on the notification bar on my Incredible that there was an OS upgrade. For some reason not only did it go through the download process twice, but it wiped my phone clean. Luckily google had my contact list, but all my non-paid apps, bookmarks, notepad entries, everything...gone.

I've been debating on which direction to go at new phone time: jump to Apple or stick with Android.

Decision was made a lot easier by this fiasco.

I'm sorry to hear your phone got wiped. There are a lot of backup options out there though, and you might want to look into some of them.

Anyways I moved this to the Droid Incredible forum in case you want to try and troubleshoot with users here :)

sadly that can happen with any phone OS or manufacturer (check out the apple forums ;) ) ; should always have a backup of ANY electronic data. All of the data on an android phone/app can be easily backed up to a computer or the "cloud".

Everyone always says how easy it is to backup but nobody tells you how.

I tried downloading a backup app and it didn't work right. The only things I've been able to backup were by making copies of a couple of folders using Windows Explorer and copying/pasting photos to my computer hard drive.

Is there no software that will just sync my phone to my hard drive when I plug it in, like the old Palm Desktop did? I just plugged it in, it was simple.

Thanks.
