Help Wired earbud, lost all call functions with Android 2.2

Using a Wired Earbud, it has a button to end the call. When starting a call you click the earbud button and you can say "call, Joe Smith". With the upgrade to Android 2.2 it only turns on & off the music and I lost all call functions. How can I get the call functions back?

I can receive calls by pushing button on earbud mic. When I push the button to make a call, I turn my music on and off.

That is exactly how mine works but... before the Android 2.2 update, you could use the push button to make a phone call using "voice commands".
