Root Wired Thether

nmazloum

Newbie
I found this app that could be used to tether through the USB cable (if someone does not like to use wireless tether) on our phones. its free and works flawlessly. here is the link android-wired-tether - Wired Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting. I used latest version 1.4
prerequisites
1-need to be root
2-put the phone in debugging mode
3-plug the phone into the computer as internet connection (make sure the drivers are installed)
3- start Wired Tether app (when u start the app a massage pops up that says unsupported kernel, press ignore, the app should still work fine)
4- enjoy tethering through USB.
the reason I like using this rather than wireless tether because the battery doesn't die as fat and i would not have to worry about charging the phone afterwards...

The free edition of PdaNet will limit secure web sites. and the full version costs 14.95. if you are ok with both these terms then it should not be a problem for you. with wired tether you don't have to worry about that.

Agree also works on linux as well, & u don't need a software to be installed on ur comp in order for it to work.

Good find nmazloum thanks.

I tried this on my rooted Esteem
now, I have a Macbook Pro and it just doesn't work
what you posted was for win pc's
any suggestions on making this work on a mac?
I mean I got wireless tether now, just to use a wired tether sometimes so the battery stays charging and stuff..
