Wireless charging

All you East Coasters must have jumped on the wireless charge covers and the extra battery kit quickly because Samsung's website is already out of stock for all of those!

I just hope I'm able to get the extra battery kit, prior to my coupon expiring!

They are pretty new, but does anyone have a wireless charging cover for their N3 yet? The Samsung page says:

*When installed, the Wireless Battery Cover will result in a very slight increase in the overall size of the device. As such, there is a possibility that not all case options may fit as they do with the standard battery cover installed.

Galaxy Note 3 Wireless Charging Cover, White

I dont know what the price on a charging base is, the back cover is $39.99 on the samsung site. Trying to understand if this back was used, can the device still charge if a Spigen Slim Armour case was used? with the Slim Armour even fit with that back?

Any Note 2 users out there perhaps that know?

Anybody have experience with wireless charging on the Note 2. Would it charge as fast as if it were plugged into the wall using the USB3 port? Wondering what the benefits/advantages are to using such a cover.

thanks for the ideas

I know. I know. Asking alot. But could you be a bit more precise than a bit. Maybe a profile photo side by side. Are we talking 1 or 2 mm lot more

I have the QI-enabled back cover & will (time permitting) get some mics/calipers @ work tomorrow & get some precise measurements.

However,to best answer your questions in the meantime regarding fit/functionality w/the SPIGEN Case & QI-enabled battery cover:

1) You should have no problem w/charging capabitities w/the case installed, that is if it'll fit.

2) Fit will most likely be a problem,as I have 3 cases & the bumper being the only one that fits:

An e-mail to SPIGEN wouldn't be such a bad idea, perhaps they'll provide a comprehensive list of which cases will fit & those that won't.

Doesn't sound like a good risk to buy without trying it. If it was amazon, no problem, just return it. It not a good match for 50% off Samsung coupon I think

Here's the stock dimensions :

151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm (5.95 x 3.12 x 0.33 in)

I just read an article comparing the GS4 stock & w/a QI-ENABLED battery cover & it added 1.7mm extra thickness to the phone.

I'd expect the additional thickness of the GN3 QI-ENABLED cover to be similar.

Even though I don't care for using cases, I'd rather have options. canceled my order on Tiger direct

Canceled you order for what? The Qi charging backplate? I am thinking that I might just get a spare batter y. Not sure of the benefit of the charging backplate anyway. If it were faster, maybe. But the N3 already charges pretty darn fast.

If this thing gets much more useful I think I'll scream! Wait: IT WILL!

I have ONE issue with it: I bought a USB 3 charging cable for the bedroom and can't see to attach it at night. I either guess at it and poke until I hit the hole or get up and turn a light on. Solution is at hand!

I ordered a Tylt Vu wireless charger and an OEM Samsung wireless charging S-view cover. Both are Qi compatible, so it should all work nicely. Now to wait for the cover to come in on the boat

I need to unsubscribe from this thread. While waiting on my qi receiver, this is looking very tempting for my house.

The oem wireless backplate because it is thicker and many cases don't work with it.

If you opt for it, T-Mobile has it on their website & you can use the 30% discount code ACCOFFER07.

Well, since I had some points that I could afford to use from AMEX, I decided to give this universal holder a shot:

Amazon.com: Qi Wireless Car Charger Pad Charging Transmitter For Nokia LG SAMSUNG S3 S4 NOTE: Cell Phones & Accessories

Most of the time, I'm not big on Universal holders, but considering this is a wireless Qi Car holder, I think it was worth trying out. Adjustable for different width/length.

The fact that the Kidigi dock that I'm using, connected to my Proclip/Broddit base mount, is already using Richter (4 prong) mounting points, it'll be an easy swap of the mount.

Should this end up working well, I'll just sell my Kidigi mount.

Very interesting product, keep us updated please.

You're gonna be torn as to where to use the TYLT QI CHARGER, trust me, you'll want another for your desktop PC work station.
But, before you go there, this might interest you :

JBL Powerup Wireless Charging Speaker Black | eBay

Got one on the way, sale price is good for another 7 hrs.

Nah, Kolio, I know right where that charger's going: on my bedside nightstand. That's the only place I need a charger since this phone goes on all day long!

That's a great find on the wireless charger! But I have a nice set of BT stereo headsets, so I personally have no need for it... someone else will, though. Heck of a deal!

Same here, been on my usual "new phone accessory binge" of late & picked up the JAYBIRD BLUEBUDS X Stereo B/T headset. One word:AWESOME!

That's one thing it appears SAMSUNG has apparently nailed down,BLUETOOTH.
All my B/T accessories pair/connect & stay connected w/o the intermittent drop-off all my previous phones have had. :)

I will for sure. I plan on testing charging, without using the phone, as well as while either playing music or Nav or both. Granted, my Note 8.0 serves as my dedicated music player, while in my own car, but my phone is usually where I run NAV, since it is the only one with data connectivity, while on the road.

As of right now, my Kidigi mount doesn't charge the phone, when Nav is being used, so I'm anticipating similar results with the Wireless charger. If it does charge, while using Nav, then it's definitely a win, for me. Anything beyond that will just be gravy.

The more I started thinking about this, rather than buying a whole knew mount, for those of you that have the Arkon Ultra Slim Universal mount, you could probably make a "custom" wireless charging dock, since the ultra slim universal comes with longer prongs. This is all that would be needed:

This mount:
Amazon.com: Slim-Grip Ultra Sticky Suction Dashboard & Windshield Mount: Cell Phones & Accessories

or

Amazon.com: Metrans MWT02 Air Box Mini Qi Wireless Charger USB Charging Pad for Nokia Lumia 920 HTC 8X Google Nexus4 (White): Cell Phones & Accessories

or

Amazon.com: Mini Qi Wireless Charger Transmitter Charging Pad/Mat/Plate for Nokia Lumia 920 Nexus 4/5 iPhone 4/4S Samsung Galaxy S3/Note 2 with Blue LED indicator: Cell Phones & Accessories

Glue any of those (or any other "ultra thin" qi charger) to the back plate of this mount:
Amazon.com: DigiYes Ultra-thin Black QI Wireless Charger Compatible with LG Google Nexus 4 / Optimus Vu II / Nokia Lumia 920: Cell Phones & Accessories

The bottom portion of the mount is the one that expands, in order to place a device in the holder, but it also comes with extra long holder legs, so that it can accomodate tablets. I know because I use it for my Note 8.0. Even though the one I bought is much simpler and less work, there are ways that people can save some money if they're already using the Arkon Ultra Slim mount. What's great is that, with a Wireless Key charging back, one would essentially get a "dock and go" setup because the microUSB to power the Qi charger would be placed in the Qi transmitter.

OK this is the best I can do.
Weight: Wireless Back = 33gr vs Plain back 11gr

The one on the right is the wireless charging one

I love the functionality of the wireless charger.
I have the charger at my night stand table. Once I am dome playing with my phone, I place on the pad and it gets fully charged when I get up in the morning.
