Wireless file sharing app?

Hey guys, I noticed an app on the market a couple of weeks ago that allowed you to share files with your PC wirelessly but can't find it now. Any idea what it's called? It's a paid app.

You might be referring to "aFile" & "aFile Pro"...

File mvoing via WiFi on shared networks and various servers.
 
EStrongs File Explorer does this job of sharing files on WiFi very well and the app is for free :)

As a newbie to Android - I have a tablet, it is not phone. It links in to my home network via a wifi router and successfully acesses the internet.
I would like to access file shares on my PC and possibly also ny wired network printer (Samsung ML2855ND)
I have looked through many of the suggested file share apps here but many seem to need an outside service - which, if any, will acess shares on my PC directly via my home network?

Advice appreciated.
 
Dropbox is great! Free, share files between your desktop and you can download an Android specific app for your mobile. Also allows you to share a folder with someone via email so they can download a file that would be too large to pass through your email stream (often throttled at 4 or 5 MB).

If you are only concerned with moving data between your desktop and the mobile, the USB cable would be fastest.

agreed using USB to treat the pad as a memory card would be fastest, but that goes against the concept of wireless. Also using USB or network FTP sounds like I need to be sitting at the PC to transfer files - I had in mind the opposite - my home network has 4 PCs (File Server/ Backup Server/My PC/Her PC) - all have shared folders -I wanted to be using the pad and browsing the shares from the pad.

It is an easy request :)
Why didn't you try EStrongs File Explorer (use the LAN tab for to connect your shares over WiFi).
Only your PC's must running, no needs to sit by :)

Harry2 - great - that works as required.
Confused me when it didn't detect anything when I tried 'scan'.
It instructed me to add a new server - when I did that it asked for 'samba server' - but it isn' samba its windows - however once
I had entered the IP address - then id/pwd - but once that was in - bingo - shared.

Samba is right :)
Windows uses this protocol too.

I asked a similar question a few days ago and have not found anything that works yet for a SGT 10.1.

Basically I want something to view networked images. ES works well, but is too slow and from what I can tell it has no sharing options for the networked files. That is sort of a deal killer. File Explorer HD also works fairly well, but it is also slow and is caching everything to the tab, which long term will not work. It is also painful navigating images with it because it does not allow flipping through images. I cannot figure out why everything I tried is so slow though. Windows computers on the same network are fast enough that viewing files appears like they are local. Maybe SAMBA for Android is just not very fast???

So, what I want is a file explorer that can flip through images like ES, share like HD, and view files at least tolerably fast enough. Is there any app out there that will do that?
 
Like UKCatFan, I'd also like to access my local network, large NAS, and local printers. For tablets, you'd think this would be a native feature. I bought my tablet for business purposes and it's a total joke that local network connectivity isn't one of the top priorities. Instead it seems geared toward the web only. Stupid stupid stupid.

I have a Xperia X8 mobile phone and a LG BD660 Blu-Ray player with DLNA support. I want to share music, pictures on my X8 and play these on the BD player. The BD660 can connect to the internet with wire, but connected to a wifi router (Cisco EPC3925), so the player can see and get data from other devices connected to this network, for example my laptop or PC. I need an application to my X8 which I can share my files with my DLNA supported BD player. Is there any possibility?

Use wifi tether to create a infrastructure hotspot.
Use Airdroid to serve over your new hotspot.
Last, use another phone or computer browser to get and give what you want.
