Help Wireless N 5ghz?

Are any of you using Wireless N 5ghz AND getting more than 65mbps? I have been doing some research (mainly Motorola Forums) and have read that the max anyone has gotten using Wireless N 5ghz is 72mbps. I have the Netgear N600 (WNDR3700) and the most I can get is 65mbps. I also get this at 2.4ghz as well. My laptop uses 2.4ghz AND can get 130mbps. Now when I do see/use my 5ghz on my Xoom the signal strength does decrease further away from the router (this is a known issue with the 5ghz spectrum, wall penetration is Crappy). Just wanted to know what everyone else is getting.

Interesting. I wonder why the Xoom is capped out at 72mbps using Wireless N 5ghz. Should at least get 130mbps like my laptop.

shorter distance is not an "issue" its just the nature of higher freqs. same with wimax vs, 1xrtt.

im also maxing at 72, however my streaming, file transfer, etc. is not being affected at all.

just so i understand your concerns,

is this level of resolution (72) preventing you from enjoying stutter free playback, file transfer, etc?

No not at all. It's just that I buy an expensive router to get higher speeds and I am stuck at 65mbps while using Wireless N 5ghz. It just irritates me that my laptop connects at 130mbps using Wireless N 2.4ghz and the expensive Xoom cannot do the same on the higher (5ghz) frequency. What's the point in buying the better routers if the equipment we purchase it for is not connecting properly.

oh i understand what you mean. i think one of the moto techs spoke about that in one of those lengthy threads about why. i had not really noticed about the resolution cap until i saw the thread discussing people who had noticed this.

perhaps its a software restriction and an update will lift this? the evo out of the gate could not connect to N and after an update it was finally able to.. perhaps this will happen here...

Hopefully an update will fix this. Yeah I remember waiting for the update on my Evo as well. The only thing about 5ghz is it has horrible wall penetration. I start to get signal degredation the further away from the router.
