Help Wireless N connection unreliable?

My Triumph seems to have problems connecting to my DD-WRT router when I have the router set to Mixed N and G mode. Details over in the DD-WRT forum:

DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - Problem with Android not connecting sometime

If I set the router to Mixed G & B mode, I never seem to have this issue.

No other device I have that uses wifi seems to have a problem with the router in N mode, but the phone will also connect perfectly if I reboot the router, so I have no idea if this is a Triumph issue or a DD-WRT issue. If figured I'd ask in both places :-).

Sound familiar to anyone?

For now, I've just set the router back to B&G mode and all the problems are gone.

What if you try N-only vs mixed? I had no problems with my Triumph connecting to N-only 2.4GHz when I had it, on a Cisco/Linksys router.

Unfortunately lots of my other devices are G only, so they'd have no connectivity for the few days it would take to decide if the problem was really gone or not :-).

the only real thing i can think of is the Ghz its broadcasting in, i also have a netgear, but mines the Rangemax Dual-Band Wireless N

it can do wireless N and Wireless G at the same time

but ive noticed that if i do run both at the same time, N has to run at 5.0Ghz, which i have no issues with, but most smaller N capable devices, such as my PS3, Xbox360, and phone can sometimes see 5.0GHz N, but they can only connect to 2.4GHz N

the only way i can get it to run N in 2.4Ghz is to turn the G radio off and have it be just an N router but most devices i own are G only

The way i have mine set currently, the way i always keep it set is having G on 2.4ghz and N on 5.0Ghz, with it set in the routers settings for it to push the most data it can on those(i think its something like 150Mbps G and 250mbps N)

then i Named them respectively Netgear G and Netgear N, and i basically connect everything to the G unless its actually capable of seeing and connecting to the N

* I also find it dumb that manufacturers havent been putting this info on the boxes, they just put N-compatible, so you think nice, a faster connection on a less clogged channel, only to find out ur router and device use different N frequencies and youd need a different router to make use of the N channel at all lol

You may as well just set it to G-only if you have devices that can only connect that way.

And yeah, most things that say they support N only support 2.4 ghz, unless they explicitly say otherwise.

Yea, I've gone back to that for now, but I was able to transfer files a lot faster when I turned off all the G only devices and only talked N :-).

Yeah, N seems to have better speed and work with a worse signal than G. It's unfortunate that the phone won't work when you have mixed mode. It seems like different routers behave differently, you'd think that stuff would be fairly standard by now.
