Root Wireless Tether for the INC2?

Just rooted got a CM7 all savvy and i go to find the wireless tether and i cant. I had an INC1 with the tether no problem but i cant find an apk for the inc 2. anyone have any help?

Isn't it cooked into cm7 as a native rom function? Also just an fyi because of the legal grey area that tethering falls into these types of questions are generally frowned upon. ;-)

"Wireless teathet" works for me. You have to dl from outside the market and make sure you have the HTC device button clicked. Other than that, I think it works great.

Go to the market on you PC.
Log out if you are logged in.
Search for wireless tether.
Click on link to developer's web site.
Download from there.
Connect phone to PC.
Copy APK to phone.
Disconnect phone from PC.
Install using any of the phone file explorers.

Barnacle Wifi Tether ....

Not working on my rooted INC2 (GB). Here's the report from the app: Barnacle had trouble starting wpa_supplicant. Try again but set 'Skip wpa_supplicant' in settings. Tried it by skipping as above. No luck. Barnacle web site has a link where phones known to work are listed. HTC Incredible 2 is not listed there.

Okay, Wireless Tether works well ! My OS is Ubuntu 10.10, and my phone is a rooted HTC Incredible 2 running GB. Here's how I did it:

1. On my PC, I went to the app Market (http://market.android.com)
2. Typed wireless tether in the search box
3. Chose 'Wireless Tether for Root Users', then hit the link to the developer's website
4. Downloaded the file: wifi_tether_v3_1-beta5.apk (this is the version as of today)
5. Prepped the phone: USB debug ON, allow unknown sources ON, then connected a USB cable to my PC. On the connection type screen on my phone, I selected Disk Drive
6. An icon appeared on my Ubuntu desktop for the SD card on my phone. I simply dragged the .apk file from my Ubuntu Downloads folder and dropped it on the SD card icon.
7. I opened Astro, a free app I got from the Market, scrolled down to the bottom where the .apk was and selected it. After the install, an icon appears among the apps where you can start up Wireless Tether.

Note: I hit the SpeakEasy web site to see what the bit rate was using the phone's 3G connection. Got 300kb/s. Not too bad. Same test over my DSL shows 3mb/s. Good for when you're out-and-about and there's no wi-fi for your PC.

Oh, I forgot to mention that there doesn't appear to be any security with this tether. The SSID appears as: AndroidTether.
