Root Wireless Tether issue: 3G going on and off

Lately when I try to tether with Wireless Tether my 3g connection goes on and off after like 5-10 min. Is this a common problem? Is there something going on from Verizon, or this a software/hardware issue?

I have the same issue. I noticed it when I was watching YouTube the other day, where the 3g connection would stop loading the video and the only way to get it going again was to reload the page

i think this is an issue with the phone and not wireless tether. I have the same problem and sometimes have to reboot to get back my 3g

Ever since I upraded to froyo then rooted and using custom roms, my wireless tether has not worked. When rooted it 2.1. all was fine.

I use Barnacle and as long as you check the "skip wpa_supplicant" it work great.

I had the same problem. Apparently, this is what happens for some people after you update to 2.2.

Here's the fix: Go to settings, open applications, go to manage applications and down to wireless tether. Click on "clear data," then uninstall. Next, dial *228 send and choose option 2 to do a roaming update. Finally, install the latest beta of wireless tether(I installed 2.0.5 pre 9). You'll have to install the .apk manually because it's not in the market. This worked for me. I'm using WEP and not getting any more drops.
