I rooted a couple of weeks ago mainly to use the wireless tethering while at.the ballfields with my daughter. I can connect my laptop to the phone. Phone will reconize it but the laptop says internet not avalible.
Any suggestions?
Have you tried "wireless tether" in the market? You have to be rooted. Another way is to fire up your hotspot, then turn on airplane mode and then turn airplane mode off (this is just a way to turn the radio off and back on). You should have tethering.
I'm having a wireless tether problem as well. When I had the Droid Eris, it would connect on my macbook as a regular wireless network with no problem. Now with the X, it only connects as a Wireless "Device" and I also have problems with the 3G connection dropping every 5 minutes. (Battery Saver is set to shut down connections after 1 hour, so that's not the issue)
