Root Wireless tethering question

Currently my phone is stock with only the verizon updates. If I root, in order to use wireless tethering, will that work with an ipod touch? Can I root for wireless tethering, and keep everything else a stock experience? Obviously I know very little about rooting a phone thank you for your help in advance.
 
yes
your ipod touch will see your phone as a hot spot.
you will not have to make any other changes to your phone
