Wish me luck

I don't think you're as screwed as you think you are. Just apply for a replacement birth certificate and present the receipt according to the instructions for form I-9

This is what I was going to say. The employer would rather get you to order another Social Security card and wait than go through the hiring process again. They've already invested money in you and unless it's obvious that you shouldn't be working in the U.S., they'll be patient while you get the appropriate documents.

Oh and c'mon man, you're not one of those "birther" people are you?!?!?!

Well, they took the receipt of me ordering my passport and were OK with it. So I'm good for 90 days at least. Second day was not much more impressive as we didn't do a whole lot. There are 5 new guys and only two of us have been issued computers. The other guy that was issued a computer doesn't have a logon ID so it's not a whole lot of use to him. We're supposed to start doing some actual training tomorrow.

Relax and give it time. Companies always screw up with new employees. Things get handed to people who hand to people who don't have a clue. Things work themselves out. As far as Id yeah it sux monkey balls but what can you do. Just go with the flow most companies understand we don't have a regular copy of those things that we carry around with us. However I guess we should heed to your experience and make sure that we do have a copy of that stuff in a safe deposit box.

Congrats you earned it you deserve it now gratify in it :)

Yeah, my parents didn't have a copy of any of that stuff either. I figured they would. The moral is that you've got to put all of that in one place. If I had died and my parents were looking for those documents it would've caused a huge pain. My parents had mountains of paperwork at their house as well that would've been impossible for me or my sister to dig through and find anything meaningful if something happened to them. I think their will is in the pile I went through somewhere, but I couldn't find it. On my list of things to do this weekend is go through my pile of paperwork and organize it and put the important stuff in a strong box.
