Nope, even if its all bugged out, still better than my phone... and plus updates will be applied shortly after release anyways.

That combined with the delays and the lack of communication (from a communications company no less!) has me hesitant, however if they offer 4G unlimited I may go ahead and buy in just to have unlimited 4G.

I trust HTC and the dev community that follows them. I currently use a WinMo device, so I'm used to force closes. 99% of the time I'm on WiFi, so I'll be a happy camper with the TB. I mainly want this device for the speed, screen size, fast internet with flash, DLNA and the possibility of Netflix. Also, I switching from ATT to VZW because my wife now gets a discount, and the TB will be among it's top devices for the foreseeable future. If I have to pay more than $30 for a data package that suits me, I'll pickup a dinc or X.

I got the eris which is still steadfastedly supported by the dev community 2 years on and its kicking great!

The only problem is we don't have a "contract police" at our disposal. A few years ago AT&T promised me that they would give me an employee discount if I signed up with them. 1st month's bill was close to $300, 2nd month's bill was $160, after 4 months the employee discount NEVER materialized so I cancelled my service with AT&T. To add insult to injury, the idiots wanted to charge me an early termination fee. As much as they had me pay for the first few months of service, I told them to go to hell. They sent that early termination fee to collections. These companies aren't as concerned with "making it work" as they are with "taking your money".

Yea I think I'm going to wait for dual MB the bionic I know everyone hates blur but I love moto and there products and as for being locked I did everything on my og droid that I do on my x so I don't know why people are'really that cncerned of being locked and people that have played with the bionic have stated that the new blur is actually a joy to have so good

I seriously doubt the TB will be one of VZW's top devices for the foreseeable future. Hell, I doubt it will be the top by years end. I am basing that on a specs comparison only, not on sales.

At this point I'm considering staying 3G for now. We still have the X2 and Incredible S coming out soon. I've repeatedly fought off the urge to get an I4 while waiting for this phone. Point is bigger and better things are on the horizon within the next 3 months so why not wait and see what's coming. CTIA is at the end of this month as well.

I understand it is tough to enforce stuff especially if you did not bother to get them in writing, however I am sure if Verizon released a phone advertised as 4G and doing all sorts of things and than reality set in and it did not, it would be easy to get out of your contract with them if they did not make it right and it is unlikely that you would be the only person facing the issue.

No, because the problem isn't the phone. From what I can gather the phone itself is solid and whatever issues with it were minor. Hell, the OG Droid launched and the camera wouldn't even focus. It was impossible to take pictures. It still has ended up being one of the top tier Android devices that people use as a benchmark to compare other devices to.
The problem seems to mostly have been that Verizon has shifted too many resources over to beefing up the 3G network to handle the iPhone rather than setting up the 4G network for the TB launch. If VZW hadn't lost focus because of Apple, you'd be holding a TB right now and you'd probably be loving it.
At first, I was ready to jump right on this phone, buy it sight unseen and be thrilled, no matter any flaws/drawbacks. This may have also been due to the fact that I was 2+ years with a blackberry storm that was a constant problem, with daily battery pulls and a lack of useful apps. I was prepared to wait as long as I could for this phone, putting all my chips on it being everything I'd ever need in a mobile device.
Whether it was just by chance, or that I willed it so, my storm finally died 2 days ago. In need of a phone, I went to best buy and picked up a droid X. Having never had an android phone, I was blown away. Knowing what I do now about the amazing functionality of android smartphones, I am excited about the thunderbolt, but I am ok waiting now.
As a first-time moto user, I definitely see flaws in the UI that make me like sense better. I could have gone with the incredible, but screen size is too important to me. I am now ok with waiting, and honestly, the world wouldn't end if the thunderbolt ended up sucking, because this phone is definitely a quality device. That being said, the sooner the thunderbolt comes out, the better.
I honestly don't get how some people on this forum can be as upset as I was, all the while rolling with an X or incredible. You guys had no idea. It's like shooting a bullet, or throwing it.
