Woah just got an EMERGENCY ALERT through my phone!

WOW so I was walking through CVS getting some last minute stuff in preparation for the hurricane hitting NYC and a loud buzzing came out of my phone and I looked at it and it was an EMERGENCY ALERT from NYC.Gov in RED coming through my phone as a text message saying MANDATORY EVACUATION Zone A, Rockaways, Hamilton Beach, etc! I've never had an alert like this come through my phone and I was the only one in the store with this on their cell phone. I read the phone came with this feature so I'm glad to see that it works!:captain:

Yeah, made me jump the first time it happened too.

There should be a setting if you prefer to have it off

I got hit with one around 2-3 am a while back. Freaked me out, had no idea what was going on or where the noise was coming from as I was sound asleep when it happened. Turns out it was the emergency broadcast telling me a flash flood warning (there's never been a flash flood in my area. ever.) Read it, got pissed at it for waking me up, then went back to sleep.

You can turn it off except for presidential emergencies.

Mine only went off for flash flood warnings, even though we had a tornado warning and multiple severe thunderstorm warning. I would think it would go off for those too.

I know in my area they just started doing it this summer so maybe it's still rolling out.

it was raining in los angeles last week and I got 5 flash flood warning messages every hour. racked up 300 of those warning texts in 3 days... ridiculous.

turning it off didnt help they just kept coming.
