Help Wonky Texting issues

Here are some issues i am having with Text Messaging, maybe someone can shed some light..

I will recieve (or attempt) to recieve an MMS message, and it doesnt come down, there is a Download / Reject button.. I can hit download 1000x and it will never come, so i have to reject it.

Text messages sometimes come in 3x the same message..

I wont recieve notification of a text message if the phone is idle.. i wake it up, do into text, see it there, and then when i reply to it, it singles me that i got one and sets the time to that minute?

Now this is IF i leave the phone for a few days.. If i reboot, all seems normal..

I am running supercharger script, have removed some apps (non essential core apps as per freeze/removal faq).. Anyone else see this?

I have seen the 3x testing issue but I have chalked that up to some bad service areas I am in a lot of the time. I haven't seen any issues with any MMS. But then again the TXT message app on motoblur isn't very bug free. there are a lot of little quarks in there.

I thought about the "service area" thing, until it happened to me today at work.. I live and work on Long Island which is probably the mecca of Verizon Service (Have gotten 35 meg down 4g LTE speeeds on wireless modem)..

AND my office has Verizon cell towers on it..

So that officially eliminates it being a signal issue. :D

Its a pain tho.. Today on the way home i got 3 of the same messages from the same person 3 mins apart. And the other day my sister said i sent her like 5 messages when i sent only 1

Some people are reporting the same problem with duplicate text messages. I've had it periodically on and off since I got the phone. From other user input, it seems to be completely random and not tied to the stock app, Handcent, certain towers, or certain carriers even. I've stopped it for a short while by clearing my text cache with Handcent, but it has come back a few times now.

I haven't heard about or experienced your other issues.

Yesterday I found out that a message I sent at 10am really got sent at 552PM! Then I found out that I am not receiving texts either and when I do, they come 3 at a time..

I'm haven't experienced any delayed send or receive issues. Only repeat receives. Never had a repeat send.

i have had all of the same problems...not sending or receiving/sometimes hours later/sending receiving multiples... not only with this phone, but happened with my original droid.

gotta be an issue with vzw.

It's really a pain in the @)(#!)#.. Just now for example, i requested my bank to send me a pin number via text.. should have arrived pretty fast... Phone was asleep, sitting in a holder (not charging)..

I turn on the phone i see nothing..

I sent a test message from my email, havent gotten it yet, so i turn on the phone again and there is 3 messages from my bank from 10:05, 10:07, 10:09.. All the same messages..

I mean what the heck is goin on here?

I have read many a forum, and see muiltiple messages going back to the original droid, some have fixed it, some havent.. Its very random..

Install Handcent, if even just to clear the text message cache. That clears things up for me (though not a permanent solution).

I have seen many posts from people on handscent that say the same thing tho.. multiple messages etc.. I use history eraser to clear all my caches...

It looks like its a 2.2 Froyo issue.. Hoping Gingerbread will fix it, but god knows when that will be. Seen posts from thunderbird users, X users, X2, etc..

So I took the phone to the VZW store and the guy was messing with it and I hear "droid" about 15 times in a row.. He "cleared" out the line and all the message came flodding in that I was missing.. One at a time too!! It seems that maybe an MMS was causing the back up

This is positive, we may be able to peice something together from all this info.. I installed handscent and things seem to be working fine for now.. got txt and mms in so far no issue and single messages.. but i know this is only a bandaid on an overall bigger issue.

A couple of updates here..

1. I re-read my last post and realized that it was the worst grammar I have ever used.
2. Since I had the procedure done above, the phone has been much more responsive, fast and error-free..
3. Is this a fix all?? I dont think for all problems but if someone has lost the ability to receive text messages, this may help..

Handcent received an update today that lets you completely disable the built-in text app (and freeze it with titanium backup) without losing MMS abilities. Will be interesting to see if the dupes stop.

Do you know what he did exactly? I'm having similar issues - 3 copies of one message coming in, and some messages not coming over at all. My wife had to send an MMS three times before I finally got it.

I dont know exactly what he did.. All he would tell me was, "he cleared out the line"... Something on his end that he has access to

The new Handcent + disabling built-in text app has yielded me 0 repeat messages since the change. I also have the built-in app frozen in Titanium Backup.

I haven't had any repeat messages but it doesn't seem like I'm receiving as many messages as I was before I got this phone. My girlfriend said she has sent me several but I've only got a few. But she might have trouble with her phone as well.

We did have weather issues here yesterday and I did receive weather warnings from the local tv station's app.

Droid does.. make you lose iPhone friends.

Has anyone else experienced texts getting re-sent after powering off a Droid X2 then powering it back up? Every time I do this, people who I previously had sent texts to get them all over again.
