Root Won't Backup or go into Recovery

Decibles

Newbie
I am playing with an OG Droid that I picked up for cheap on CL. I have been at it for about an hour and a half or more now, and I can't get the cursed thing to boot into Recovery.

Steps I have taken:

1. SuperOneClickRoot (worked like a charm, have root access)
2. Installed RomManager
3. Flashed ClockworkMod 2.5.0.1 (Latest Version)
4. Tried to Make a backup (Failed)

As soon as I attempt to make a backup of my current (Stock) setup, the phone shuts itself off and reboots. It then stays locked onto the M Logo startup Screen. I have to do a manual battery pull to get it to reboot. I attempt to load alternative recovery and it tells me there was an error and just stonewalls me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

so your phone does boot normally if you dont attempt to access recovery?

was your failed backup attempt thru rom manager?

have you tried flashing clockwork, then imediately booting into recovery from rom manager?

have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling rom manager to see if you can then flash the alternate recovery?

what was your battery charge when the backup failed?

thats all the questions i can think of at the mement ;) i had a similar issue with my incredible refusing to install any version of clockwork, but the alternate always flashed just fine.

+1 ^^^ this, answers please. The only thing I can think of to add as a question is did you select the permanant root in SuperOneClickRoot? I'm not sure about this as I rooted a long, long, long, long tiome ago, but from what I've read, some of these "one click" root apps have a temp and a perm option.

We're waiting . . . . . . . .

I had clockwork and then flashed RzR it was fine but i wanted to go back to clockwork. no i have the same problem. if i boot to recovery it goes to the M and hangs but if i leave it alone it restarts on its own to android. i tried to reflash clockwork but no help. i will try spr and then uninstalling rom manager and reloading it.
