Wordfeud - took points away at end

Hey all,

I'm new to scrabble, so I'm looking for the help of a veteran here.

My wife and I have been playing Wordfeud against each other lately, and I won the first 3 games. Then on the 4th, she was up the entire time, sometimes by almost 100 points. Then at the end, I was able to shorten the gap to 298-308, with her still up. I had a "U" left, and she had played her last letter. Here's what the board looked like:

P ___M
R ___U
O ___D
B ___D
E ___L
D _ R E
___A
___J

Down: Probed
Down: Muddle
Down: Raj
Across: D_RE

At the bottom, see the "D RE"? I put my U in there, making "DURE". Then, it said that I won and the final score was 284-330, with me earning 32 points on that word. Why did I get so many points, first of all, and second why was 24 points taken away from her score? The spot I put my U in was a DW spot, so I should have only gotten 8 points (D and U are 2 pointers, R and E are 1)

It subtracts the score for all the opponents remaining tiles.

I don't know about your score, but it looks like its added those 24 points subtracted from her to your score.

^^ This is what happens. Depending on who uses up their tiles first (provided a word can be spelled), any remaining tiles on your opponents board are subtracted from their score, and added to yours.

In a close game of attrition, it becomes critical to get rid of your tiles, first, and especially the higher ones (don't want 10 point tiles hanging around, for example).

Don't see why it would add to the person that sent out's score. That isn't the case in Scrabble.
Kinda overkill if you asked me.

I guess it depends on the version, but some of the rules in WF are a bit different. You also only get 40 points for a "bingo", instead of 50.

well i guess a the end of the day its wordfeud and not scrabble....if ur a scrabble fan u will notice more probably....canny game if you get an apponent that sits and plays, ive got one guy puts a word in once a day lol...
